Journey To Persia

We are also booked on this trip and likewise reviewing our ususal holiday wear. Hope the visa code comes through soon.

I'm also looking forward to this exciting Persian adventure. Am traveling from Denver, Colorado. Also hoping the Visa permission comes through quickly. I'm currently doing some more reading about Iran....so many historical sites and a very old and rich history.

We now have our visas and are looking forward to the trip. When do others arrive? We arrive in the early hours of Friday 22nd, giving us Friday to recover from the late flight/early morning arrival before the trip starts on Saturday.

We had our visa interview on Friday - it went smoothly and was refreshing friendly and efficient. We now feel that the trip is really getting underway and have started counting down the days! Next item on the agenda is a visit to amazon to pick up some background reading material.

After buying the LP guide to Iran earlier in the week and looking through it, my only wish is that the trip was longer! I also bought a Farsi phrasebbook. Having learnt French at school and spending the last 30 odd years practising it during numerous trips to France - only to be met by confused expressions, I'm not sure about the usefulness of the phrasebook - especially with only 4 weeks to go!

I'd also like to learn some Farsi phrases before the trip. Maybe the internet will offer a few. Still looking forward to getting my Visa approved. I'm glad to hear that others have been approved, however. That means the trip is really going.

I just learned today that my visa and passport are on the way. Good news! Am eager to meet everyone on the Iran trip. Now I'm hoping that my UAl flight arrives in London on time.

Hi everyone,

 Chris and I are so looking forward to this trip, particulary with like minded people.  We're almost packed, "2 sleeps to go" and today we noticed temperatures have really risen over the last week.  I've just finished reading "Lifting the Veil" now need to catch up on some more recent writings, hopefully Iranian life won't be quite so grim as it was immediately post revolution.  

Wednesday evening now and staying with family in the London area ready for our flight from Heathrow tomorrow evening. We have been checking out the weather on Accuweather - we also noticed the 'unseasonably hot' comment. Slightly worried how I'm going to cope with the clothing restrictions and the heat but really looking forward to the trip otherwise. Also looking forward to meeting everybody on Saturday (we will be arriving early Friday), hope Caterina's visa has come through.

We'll be very weary-eyed on the Saturday morning I suspect :-)  and yes my visa came through in two days, as the official said. 

Have not had time to do much reading, perhaps will do bit on the plane before nodding off...
