Trip - TYW - KILIMANJARO CLIMB - RONGAI ROUTE, Departure Date - Monday 14th February 2011

Hi,

We are four near 50 year olds trying to stave off a mid life crisis by going for a stroll up Killi. Be interested in who else is going.

Ian, Dave et al,

Thanks for the reply. As well as myself there is my brother Paul and a couple of friends Bob and Chris.

Had a 25 mile walk last weekend to check out boots, wet weather gear etc. Equipment fine, fitness suspect !

Meeting up for a drink at airport sounds good.

Neil

Hi Neil, John and I and our -

Hi Neil,

John and I and our 2 wife's Susan & Gillian will all be at the airport, looking forward to meeting up for a drink.

Susan & Gillian are heading straight for Zanzibar and we will be meeting up with them after the walk, are any of your group going to Zanzibar after the walk?

We will be in touch nearer the time of the departure and arrange a meeting point @ the airport

 Cheers Dave

Yellow fever jabs done and a -

Yellow fever jabs done and a whole host of stuff keeps arriving from amazon, trip must be getting close.

I don't really know Heathrow that well, can anyone suggest a place to meet up for a drink.

 Regards

 Neil

Hi Neil and all regarding Rongai route -
John Palser I will be flying out from Heathrow on the 13th February. Presumabley this is the same trip as your 14th of February posting Neil?

John Palser - The trip notes recommend taking a Duvet jacket. Can someone advise me? I have a water proof jacket and plenty of layers to go under it, so is a duvet jacket essential?

John P.

Duvet Jacket -

Hi John, My brother John and I will be joining you on this trip and we will not have a duvet jacket either let hope we will all be nice and warm.

Hi Neil I don't know terminal 4 at all well so we might just have to look for people with walking boots on for that pint

 cheers Dave

killi clothing -

I know only 1 of my sub group of 4 are taking a down jacket. The rest are relying on layers and a decent outer jacket.

I'll be glad when the trip comes. It seems I can barely pass a day without spending more money on "you never know, I might need that"

I think you're right John, look for people at Heathrow wearing hiking boots, backpacks and any other clothing they don't want to get lost.

Found a good website for checking weather, http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Kilimanjaro/6day/bot

Neil
