I am Stuart. My friend, Malcolm, and myself ahve just booked Kilimnajaro for the 21st August.
I am really excited (and a little bit nervous) about it!
I Just wondered if anyone else had booked this trip.
Enjoy your last day at work Djamila!
I look forward tomeeting you all at the airport / transfer / meeting etc. and I am also really lookign forward toi getting started on the trek.
That said, has anyone looked at the hotel / cottages for the night before? I think that it looks really nice.
See you soon.
I didn't even think about that... Just had a look now and it looks lovely. What a nice start and end to the trip. Good to know we can jump in a pool when we get back - he he.
Yes I am, but the batteries in my camera are shockingly poor. About an hour of use each at the most.
I did buy a solar charger but its not a lot of use.
The only other batteries I am taking are for the head torch. 2 spare sets.
Luckily my camera only needs normal AA batteries, and I am taking 20 of those... I also take a portable charger (not solar), so maybe you could charge it up there? My friend is taking his solar charger as well.
Sorry, me again...
Kirsten: what kind of charger do you need? There is a Maplin near Liverpool St (where I work), I could pop in there and check for you.
lol - that just cracked me up! Just tell me exactly what camera you have with all the numbers on it etc., and I will go to the shop with this information. Do you want me to buy a charger if I find one?
I have my hiking boots, obviously, will take the ugg boots and weight and space permitting a pair of trainers. 3 pairs of boots for a hiking trip - not bad - he he. Re rain: firstly, I hope it won't! And secondly, I will just stuff the shoes in plastic bags, and leave it there if they get mouldy ;-)
Kirsten, 10kg. Well done, mine is close to 15kg. Wanted to pack light but just couldnt get it. Even took out most of the oatmeal bars. Did you pack more than just 1 pair of socks? ;) Did your packing include your down jacket, main jacket, sleeping mat and sleeping bag?
Djamila, I believe you said the mat did not have to go in the exodus bag. I got an email from Exodus telling me I had to pack everything including the sleeping mat into my exodus bag. Maybe it is different because I am not hiring anything.
2 more days of work to go and then offskie! See you all soon.
Sure is! :) I am following your lead, roughly, and am probably taking enough clothes in my hand luggage, so could scrape by if needed. I do have 2 of each base layer but it is probably OTT which would be typical of me.... Really must start my training this weekend.....DOH ;)
Well mange to pack the sleeping mat in the bag, but definitely another advantage to hiring the kit. :)
Well impressed by all your packing weights. I pity the porter that gets my bag..... ;)
A trekking we shall go.
