Mont Blanc
Terrified, but also really excited about doing this trip. Mountain gear sorted, but what clothing is needed off mountain end June beginning July. Not sure what weather to expect in Chamonix. Also I've got Scarpa SL M3 boots graded B1 crampon rating. Will they be ok? Look forward to your advice, thanks.
Hi
I live in Chamonix and the weather first surprised me when I moved out here as it can get really warm! Usually and of June we have lovely warm weather but as soon as the sun disappears behind the mountains (about 6:30pm) it gets cold quite quickly. Thunderstorms and sudden showers can be really common in the summer (often very welcome if it's hot), and the weather can change really quickly. I guess it's more of a surprise when the clouds come because the valley is so deep you don't see the clouds until rain is upon you! As you'll be spending a lot of time up the mountain it will feel much warmer back in the valley, and don't be fooled into thinking if it's a beautiful day in the valley it will be warm higher up, we see lots of tourists going up the Aiguille de Midi cable car in shorts and sandals and they are straight back down again!

Hello, looking for my next challenge and keen to do the Mont Blanc ascent - I have one reservation in that I have no technical experience - I have done Kili, Mount Toubkal and the Inca Trail as well as long mountain treks in the Highlands so am used to long days - I just want to make sure that I would grasp the training given at the beginning of the trek! Any further info appreciated. Thanks, Trish.
