I assume I'm on the same one as MiniEggs, leaving 21st December and arriving 22nd. HB - it may have been taken off the website as trip is sold out?
Anyway minieggs, I've been training, but have a lot more to do! How about you?
A daily cycle commute sounds good. Marathon training....eek! I don't cycle at all, so had to make the effort to get out there and get used to it. I'd call it essential training rather than serious training, and I'm hoping it's a holiday cycle not a race!
Never been to Vietnam, but got my visa last week and bought some beach stuff yesterday, so the excitement is building!
I think I'm on this trip too. Hoping that efforts over the first half of this year will carry me through. I've just booked a an extra last minute cycle holiday in Tenerife first week in Dec - mre for stress relief as opposed to final training for this trip. I'm hoping this will be more leisurely / pleasant than my previousl adventures this year.
How hot is the weather going to be over xmas? I'm hopeless at packing clothing See you in December
Hi ya, me (Frankie) and other alf (Alistair) on this one too. Our first cycling trip normally go on the walking trips with Exodus. Ummm - training yes the train to London to watch footie etc don't think that counts!! The odd sunday morning cycle and trips to the gym, so defo up for a leisurely cycle on this one. Friends did this trip earlier this year, had a great time and said Vietnam is a great place for picking up cheap outdoor clothing kit. Looking forward to a holiday, meeting you guys and having a good laugh and chill time.
Sounds like we are a great mixed group
This is my first time in Vietnam, my first cycling holiday and I don't own any lycra !
I'm definitely an occasional leisure cyclist and more of a walker who likes his food and ale !
I did the Way of the Roses with friends last year and thoroughly recommend it although I admit the big hills were a stretch for me
Really looking forward to this trip as I've not had a proper holiday this year and posted off my passport today to get the visa
I'm staying over at T3 on the Friday night due to past snow problems if anyone else happens to be there the night before we fly
Not long till chill time
I'm breathing a sigh of relief that others are taking their training as seriously as I am, and it is going to become even more challenging as the party season commences.... I was in Vietnam last Christmas and NY and had an amazing time. It is an incredible country.... The weather was warm and very humid in Saigon, but it is likely to be much cooler further north -so layers would be advisable. I would really recommend packing light, as washing services and new outdoor clothes are really cheap there. Take US dollars and get some dong when you are there, you will pay dollars in markets etc.
I really need to sort out my visa..... Maybe meet you all at the airport for a coffee?
I think it is only 41 sleeps to go...!
Got my passport back with visa in today !
I still need to buy a second pair of cycling shorts as I don't think one pair will last two weeks!
Looks like there is a ubiquitous Starbucks in T3 I guess I just look out for people in yellow lycra !!
Just got joining instructions and I see we leave from T4
So this map maybe more useful !! There is a Costa lotta coffee
Lycra purchased and fitness, erm, well as fit as I'm going to be. Though that's before the Xmas party season. Next three weeks will be training for the social side of the holiday!
I think I'm on different flights to the group as I'm coming back via Singapore (I'm on Singapore Airlines from T3), so will see you all at the hotel in Ho Chi Minh.
It's not raining in this vid
I think this is NYE for us .... should work off that Turkey ! ... Hope Hue is open on NYD
