Have finally taken the plunge & booked this trip......been mulling it over in my mind for ages! Would be great to hear from any fellow travellers prior to departure. This will be my first safari adventure, so any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated from a total novice.
Just booked up for this trip - sounds like fun...Went on safari last year to Botswana and had a fantastic time and the best advice I got was 'take a warm jacket - puffa type if you have got one' Thank goodness I took the advice....it was cold in the back of the safari vehicle - even during the day when it was hot just standing around.... Stick you head out of a car window doing in excess of 30 mph and you will see what I mean....Also took a scarf to wrap around lower face for same reason. Think Namibia will be much the same. Take spare camera batteries - even if yours are rechargable...you won't want to miss that special shot. Get the best binocculars you can; buy, beg or borrow same with your camera lens...Other than that I think the advice in the trip notes is pretty spot on.
See you in Sep
Many thanks for the excellent tips & advice. Have just bought myself a decent digital SLR camera + lens (70-300) & have been practising like mad in my local safari parks (not the quite the same I know!). My brother is a bit of a twitcher, so hopefully can borrow some decent binoculars. Will 'Google up' on the clothing aspects, but as you say the trip notes are quite exhaustive with this type of information.
Greatly looking forward to the trip.
