Petra & Pyramids in December? -
Trip - AEJ - PETRA & THE PYRAMIDS, Departure Date - Tuesday 18th December 2012

My wife and I are looking at going on the 'Petra & Pyramids' holiday this year, in December.

I was wondering if anyone has been on this holiday (or a different holiday, but in egypt or jordan) at this time of year and what you thought? were the days warm enough, how much did it rain, were the nights very cold, any advice on clothes (shorts or down jackets or both?).

any information or advice would be much appreciated

Paul

Petra & Pyramids -

My husband & I went on this trip last May - it was a fantastic trip - although so sad that there were no tourists anywhere. We went back to Egypt in September & asked about the temperature in December - its about 24 degrees in the daytime - not sure of the night temperatures but I don't think it drops a great deal.

Don't hesitate - it was a trip of a lifetime.

It's a very hectic trip - don't expect too much swimming time - many hotels we arrived in the evening - ate dinner, slept & left at 8.30 the next morning! Fab trip though.

I went on this trip 18-30December 2011, and the weather was fine. Warm temperatures during the day of  about 20-25 degrees C, and the evenings were mild enough, just needing a light jacket if at all. It didn't rain while I was there. Shorts will be fine during the day, and take a sunhat in case it is really sunny, as it can get quite hot at midday.

The only swimming we did was a stopover in the Dead Sea on the way down through Jordan, and then a half day at the Red Sea, where we went snorkelling with the guide for about 40 minutes, but both times the water was ok.

It is a great trip, make sure to take spare camera batteries and memory cards, there is plenty to see.
