Trip - TMU - SAHARA DESERT TREK, Departure Date - Tuesday 20th December 2011

I'm wondering about booking for the Sahara desert trek over Christmas, departing 20 Dec. Is anyone who's already signed up for this doing the land only option? Thus spending the first night in Djerba 'alone', and only joining up with the group on the second day. As a single female traveller I am not sure how advisable this option would be?

Hi, I will be coming with my teenage son and we are getting really very excited now. We have 3-season sleeping bags with a fleece liner - plus thermals - do you think that'll be warm enough?

Thinking about taking my walking poles - does anyone else use walking poles for trekking?

Hope to hear from others opting out of Xmas in the UK this year.

I'm now booked on this trip, and really looking forward to it. I'll be travelling separately, so won't meet up with the group until you arrive at the hotel in Tunis.

Sue - I always use poles when hiking in the Alps, but not sure how useful they'll be in the desert? Does anyone else have any recommendations re poles?

I have decided I will be bringing my poles, I guess they can always go with the camels if I decide I don't need them but they are great when you get a bit tired!
