Trip - TYE - THE SIMIEN MOUNTAINS TREK, Departure Date - Monday 10th October 2011
My clinic is suggesting anti rabies but Exodus trip notes do not. Has anyone any more info as to why this should be necessary/recommended/useless?

Hi willcope,
When it comes to health issues we endevour to give the best information possible but in the end your clinic are qualified medical professionals and we are not. Having said that getting a rabies shot can be very painful, very expensive and will only really serve to buy you time to get to a clinic and get proper treatment. On this trek you will find yourself a long way from the closest clinic but given the pain, the cost and the relatively moderate risk of being bitten by a rabbied animal we felt it not necissary to include rabies in our recomended vaccinations on this trip. In the end, however, this is a personal decision, if it will give you peace of mind or not.
