Hi, I'm Valerie, your leader. I will be travelling out on 7 July before the group. If you have any queries re gear just ask. Its usually hot in the daytime trekking so light cotton clothes. Summit day can be quite cold. Good idea if you have done ice axe and crampon work before. If you want to see the Taj Mahal you can book train tkts there and back - train leaves 5.15am and gets there 8am and train back leaves around 8pm getting back to Delhi around 10.30pm - long day but gives you most time there. Think you can book train tkts on line. Valerie

Hi, my boyfriend and I are -

Hi, my boyfriend and I are coming on this trip and are REALLY looking forward to it. This will be the highest altitude that I have ever been to and I'm a bit nervous but mainly ridiculously excited!

Looking forward to meeting you and the trip kicking off!

Kit advice -

Thanks for the advise Valerie. Myself & Neal have managed to book the hotel that the group are staying at in Delhi for the extra night, and we have booked the train tickets on line as well. Train times are a little different from your suggestion so we can get back to Delhi to meet up with you guys in the evening. Will we need to bring water purification tablets etc. Can you also clarify please - will the kit (4 season boots, crampons, ice axe, etc) for summit day be carried in seperately to our other day to day gear? Im just thinking about our 10K allowance.

kit advice -
All the climbing gear - ice axes, crampons, boots for the climb and anything else is carried separately. you can leave any luggage in Delhi in the hotel, you can also leave stuff in the hotel in Leh. Then before we go on trek we separate out all the climbing gear which is then taken to base camp direct and is not included in your 12kg allowance for trek. Bags are not weighed for the trek so if kitbag is 12/15kg its fine. Internal flight allowance to leh is 20kg check in and 6kg hand baggage. Water purification is useful - boiled water is proivided on trek but sometimes you need to fill up during the day so very small ammount of water purification is usefull - one lot between 2 of you is fine.
