Had the 2nd and last Jap E vaccination yesterday and have collected Malorone tablets, so just need to sort out currency now.

Jess - re bags I am either taking my wheeled soft  holdall, which also has handles and can be carried, or borrowing a friend's rucksack.  Haven't quite decided yet.

Can't believe it is only a few weeks to go now.

If you haven't ordered yours yet the cheapest I've found is via ChemistDirect - £2.33 per tablet with free delivery.

We got a private prescription from our doctor, no charge and you order online and then post the perscription in.  There was quite a hike if you wanted to fill in an online form for them to issue a 'script

I am going with Doxycycline for this trip.  I know it means I have to take it for 4 weeks after we get back, but at least it only cost me the price of a prescription!

Looks like I may have to be extra carefull. Just got a letter from the Doc's My Typhoid injection was from the "dodgy" batch and they havn't got any more in stock yet ! 

Might try a test pack this weekend !  Only 26 days to go.!

 

 Health experts could face a shortage in typhoid fever vaccination stocks after they were forced to recall a batch which is not potent enough.

Travellers have been warned that they may not be fully protected against the potentially fatal disease and have been urged to contact their GPs if they have recently returned from abroad and are feeling unwell.

French manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur has recalled 16 batches of its jab Typhim Vi because of concerns about the effectiveness of the vaccine.

Hi Julie, I've gone with the Holdall /Kit bag.. It has a bigger zipped opening for easy access to clothes etc.. My back pack's a top loader and I always find it a pain as everything I want is normally buried at the bottom !AND.... I only just noticed the 2nd page on these forums !!!! Hence I've been quiet for a little while ..lol

 

Hi Nik.  I had the same vaccine as you and I had a letter from my doctors surgery last week advising me that I may not be fully protected.  I am going to have to be careful as well.  I expect there are an awful lot of people in the same boat, pretty annoying.

What a nightmare about your injections, I read that it can have affected anyone who had the injection as far back as September 2009!  I haven't heard yet, so fingers crossed.

Vietnam Visas arrived today.  Almost there.....

Received final joinig instructions from Exodus as well.  I booked this back in Feb and now it is only a few weeks awat.

A nightmare indeed, will the NHS be providing guidance on how to decrease the chance of infection. I think Simon ad I will be fine as our boosters keep us covered for some time yet.

Bag tags have come today, and we are in countdown mode, be good to meet you all

clothes all ready to be packed - thinking 3 pairs of trousers is one too many

Bangkok hotel is excellent. Mid evening and its 30 degrees!

KL is also warm, Tom is in shorts at 11pm! Safe travels to all of you leaving tomorrow. Malaysia Air is very nice!

Good to hear you are having a great time already, we couldnt leave early as went to see Jeff Waynes, War of the World show last night, it was brilliant. We are all packed and going off to the airport hotel in an hour or so. See you on Monday
