Training for Base Camp
Hey Jon
Not on your trip, but going EBC and Gokyo Lakes trip end of November, need to get out and do some training before hand and break in my new boots (that I have yet to buy) and test them for blisters, let me know if you still heading off to the Brecon Beacons often
Hi Sarah,
I'm heading up the Beacons for an 8 to 10 Mile walk on Saturdays the 7th and 21st August. Let me know if you want to come along too. 07974 791717.

hi jon
im thinking of coming on the trip you are on, just wondering how your training is going and what boots your taking with you
gary
Hi Gary,
Hope you decide to come with us! My training is going really well... which it needed to because I was 17 1/2 stone 6 months ago... now a more healthy 14 stone and can't wait.
My boots are Mammut Goretex, black, about £150 at Go Outdoors at the moment... never rubbed once, can't fault them at all!
If you're anywhere near South Wales, come for a walk up the Brecon Beacons to see how you get on.
Good Luck!
Jon
its the training im worried about im not very fit been training for about 6 weeks so with about 12 weeks left not sure if i'll be fit enough im just outside london not to many hills near me so using a treadmill it would be good to go breacon beacons to gauge my fitness im working this weekend but got a few weekends off after that.

To be honest, the experts say 12 weeks training is plenty for a trek like this...
If you want to meet up, the Beacons is the perfect place to test yourself. I do a regular walk now across 4 of the Beacons peaks and back, about 10 miles round trip in 4 to 5 hours and a height gain/loss of about 1,200 metres, so easily equivalent to one of the harder days on the base camp trek.
Get in touch if you want to give it a go. 07974 791717.

hi jon
would be good to go brecon beacons 25 or 26 sept would be good for me
got my boots yesterday so have to wear them in
are you going on the trek by yourself
gary
hi jon
actually 18 or 19 sept would be better
Yeah, I can do 18th or 19th, you choose. There may also be a guy called Gareth walking with us too, depending on his work shifts next weekend. To be honest on a Saturday or Sunday this time of year there are a lot of people walking the beacons. I tend to chat to most people along the way and walk with others and groups for a while anyway...

Hi,
I'm walking in the Brecon Beacons most weekends, trying to get fit for the Everest Base Camp Trek leaving November 28th. If you are going too and want to meet up for a walk before hand, let me know...
