I am also booked on this trip. I've travelled with Exodus quite a few times now, either with friends or solo and always had a great time. I'll also be travelling on my own this time. I'm really looking forward to going now..

It's good to know I won't be the only solo traveller! I am really looking forward to this trip - it is an early 40th birthday present to myself (actual birthday at Christmas). I love walking and I am a keen hobbyist photographer so I saw this trip as a great way to combine these interests.

 As you have travelled with exodus before, do you have any tips for me?

Hello Rachel,

I have been on a few walking holidays with Exodus, the last one was Marrakesh and the High Atlas in January, and I had a great time. The various groups I have travelled with have always been incredibly friendly and within a couple of hours you’ll feel like you’ve known your fellow travellers for years.. I have also just started a photograph course so it looks like we’ll also have this in common, (although I haven’t decided yet if I’d bring my new SLR camera. )

I am glad to hear I won’t be the only solo traveller as well..

No, I haven't been on any similar group type holidays although I have been away on my own before (package trip) and I found that people were very welcoming to someone on their own.

What camera have you bought? I am still deliberating on what camera to take with me. I have just bought a Nikon D5100 and a lot of batteries (taking it to Glastonbury Festival). But it is heavy if you have to carry it around all day. Glastonbury will be a bit of a test, if I can manage with it there then I should be fine for this trip!

My camera is not as fancy as yours it's a Nikon D3100. I know what you mean about the weight, that's why I haven't quite decided if I'll be taking it on holiday (If I don't I am sure I'll end up regretting it though..) Glastonbury will be amazing! There is such a good line up this year. You'll have to tell me how you get on.

I am just about to book my flight. Are you travelling on the same flight as the rest of the group?

Yes, I am on the same flight as the rest of group - that reminds me, still need to book travel to and from Gatwick (I am travelling from Manchester).

I also have a sony nex. Great camera and smaller and lighter than the Nikon but just not as good image quality or as easily usable. I took the sony nex to Jersey for a short break recently and although I was happy with the results, there were a few occasions where the camera wouldn't respond and a reset of the battery needed to bring it back to life. This worries me - would hate for the camera to completely give up whilst on this holiday!

Do you use flickr? I have some photos on flickr - my user name is "fussy onion." I can be contacted that way as well.

Really sorry for the late reply. I've just had a look at your photos on flickr, they're seriously good! I am very impressed.. Are you taking your fancy SLR to Italy? I think I'll bring mine after all. I'll only regret it if I don't.

I live in London, but as I am making my own travel arrangments I'll meet the group at Pisa airport. I am planning on staying on for a couple of extra days at the end to visit a friend who lives over there.
