Hi Rod and Andy,

sadly we are a couple of OAPs celebrating our golden (years).  Hope that we wont be held up by the likes of you youger people.  Our zimmers are motorised and fully charged.  I have heard that the domitory accommodation at the Hanoi Hilton is quite comfortable, do they provide mossie nets?

Hello all! Not wishing the UK summer away, but really looking forward to this and meeting you all. We're leaving London a day early for an extra night in Hanoi. Singapore Airlines (lovely). Plan to renew jabs etc. in September. Everyone I've spoken to about Vietnam raves about the country, people and the food.

I am also booked on this trip.  This will be my first trip to Asia (or anywhere travelling Solo) so both excited and nervous.  Vietnam looks amazing and unlike anywhere I have ever been.  Can't believe how quickly time is flying - really need to start some serious research!!  I also will look into injections/Malaria/visa September time.

 I bet you are getting really excited about the trip.  We too it should be good.  First time in Nam for us.  hope to see you there.  Just sending our visas off this week in plenty of time, you just never know.

Went to see the nurse for advise today on injections and she whipped out the needle there and then so now covered for Hepatitis A, Diptheria/Tetanus/Polio, Typhoid Fever and going to get malaria tablets but gather we don't really need cover until we head inland but think I may well just take them for the two weeks just to be sure. Have received Visa back. Didn't bother using agency, just did it direct, very simpe and quick. My guide book says that Dong is unavailable outside of Vietnam but I have been told that you can now get it from the Post Office. I am planning on getting around £50 in Dong and maybe £250 in US$??, along with credit card just in case. Does that sound about right?? Also, the Hotel we are staying in on the first night is called 'Thien Thai Hotel, 45 Nguyen Truong To Street, Ba Dinh, Hanoi!! Two months to go!!!

The forecast is showing 2C for London by Thursday, so timing is good. Just hope the rain let's up at the other end! We're leaving Heathrow Friday morning, so look forward to meeting up with you all on Sunday evening! Safe jourrneys all.
