There doesn't seem to be any posts on the forum for this trip and I wondered if anyone else going wanted to chat about it,
Hi, I'm booked on this trip also - going on 6th though to have a look around San Fran and go to Alcatraz (one of my list of things to do!)
Are you looking forward to it or is that a stupid question?
Hi jusyt caught up with your post, I am also gonig on the 6th to have an extra couple of days in San Fran aand have a look round, what time are you flying?
Hi Folks, I'm booked on this trip as well. However I'm only heading out on the 8th on the BA flight from Heathrow direct to San Fransico. Unfortunately due to work I couldn't head out any earlier. I know from Exodus there are 4 others booked on the same flight so maybe if nothing else can meet up at San Fran airport to share cab to hotel etc.
Looking forward to the trip,
Hi, I am flying from Manchester to Heathrow at 11.00 and then Heathrow to San Fran at 14.10 - arrive in San Fran 3 hours later at 17.00 ish!!!
Alan - look forward to meeting you on the Saturday.
Hi, seems like I am going a bit earlier than you, I am on the 8.20 flight from Manchester to Heathrow, then leave Heathrow at 11.30 for San Fran.
Have you been there before, this is my first trip to the west coast so I am very excited about going, are you putting in any training wlaks in preparation for the trip?
Nope never been that far over before - can't wait....do alot of walking anyway so just trying to pick some with hills! which living up this neck of the woods is quite easy!
Just bought myself a Kindle for the flight...although I am a book fan decided it would be alot lighter on the packing!
Hi Di, glad you are looking forward to the holiday, I am afraid my walking has tailed off a little over the last couple of years so hoping everything is going to be ok with the walks, doing a bit of running and cycling at the moment to attempt to raise my fitness levels.
I know what you mean about the Kindle, I have resisted buying a kindle because i actually enjoy having a book but it makes sense when travelling, the biggest decision is what albums to load onto my I pod.
Any thoughts on what boots you will be using, I have a pair of KSB's but was thinking in investing in something lighter as it appears to be mainly walking on trails.
Hi Di & Paul, I hope you folks enjoy your extra couple of days in SF.
Likewise I'm a regular walker so this is one of the reasons why the trip appealed to me. I need to start having a think about what kit to bring. I'm aiming travel as light as I can and I want to resist the urge to buy too much new stuff. As the weather was mostly dry over the weekend took the opportunity to give the sleeping bag a good clean.
Told a few friends about the trip and they are all jealous.
Never done an exodus trip before but know plenty of people that have and they have all had good things to say. I have holidayed on my own in a group before and it's always been good to meet new people.
Hi Alan, tthinking about kit here too, not sure what to take really, hard to know what to expect weatherwise.
Only ever been on one organised hloiday of this type, it was not with Exodus but a very similar company and it was a great experience. Looking forward to this being the same.
I am one of the four flying from Heathrow on 8th - happy to share cab if we can find each other. A friend was on the deluxe version of this trip last year (staying in hotels - not camping). Really enjoyed it. Said walking was easy, but then we walk in the west of Scotland on hills mostly untroubled by paths. Some srambling in Utah. I have camped in National Parks in America many years ago - all good memories. Anyone interested in wildlife - especially birds?
Hi Dick, I'm on the BA285 flight @ 11:30, is this the same one as you. Looking at the trip notes in more detail looks like there is a shuttle bus that can be taken from the airport to the hotel so this might be a good way of getting to the hotel. Maybe we can come up with a meeting up point at Heathrow for those of us on the same flight or exchange mobile numbers nearer the time.
Hi Alan, my original intention had been to use the shuttle bus - seems an ok way of getting to hotel.
Exchanging mobile numbers a good idea - we could try and meet up initially in departure lounge - less hectic than when we arrive.
Not long to go now......I am proper nesh so will be taking my warm bag - hate being cold- can always stick my leg out if I get too hot!! Will wearing my boots to travel in I think - heavy and would be snookered if they went walkies... they are Jack Wolfskin and proper comfy.
I have booked Lorries shuttle form airport to hotel on Thurs when I land - looked to be easiest way into San Fran.
Looking forward to meeting you all. Hope there are some girls on the trip!!
Hi Di (et al),
Likewise I think I'll book the shuttle bus. Have you remembered to do your Visa Waiver online or have you done it before as it lasts a couple of years. I did mine last week and it took about 15 minutes mainly because I wanted to read everything properly.
Plan to do a mock pack later in the week just to make sure I can get everything I want into my kit bag. I think I have everything I need but dare say there will be some last minute shopping Saturday.
Hi all, flying Thursday so only four days to go, been sorting all my clobber out today and making sure I have got everything i need
See you all at the weekend, don't know if there are any music fans going on the trip, Saturday night in San Fran there is a guy named Jason Isbell on at the Great American Music Hall, I will be going so if anybody else fancies it maybe we could go from the hotel
Hi Dick, I've pre-booked a place on a Lorrie Shuttle Bus, the link as provided in the trip notes. Cost was $16. It's booked for 3:30pm but sounds like you can board any bus that day but I assume you get priority on the bus you've booked. Just need to sort out currency now.
Ibooked the bus too, but an earlier one - suggested by the company - see you at the hotel.
How earlier a bus are you on Dick.? 3:30pm was the one suggested by the Lorrie Website. With arrival time and allowing for baggage reclaim and customs that sounded about right to me. But if I'm ready I see if I can get on whatever bus.
You may spot me by the time we get to the departure gate as I'll be wearing my walking boots, have a blue day pack and have short light brown (dark ginger) hair.
