Who's walking the Great Wall of China???
Hi there,
I've just booked the penultimate space on the trip. I wasn't planning to do any training for it, so I'm feeling a bit a bit paranoid now!
Mike
Hi,
I've done 3 Moderate/Challenging graded trips before and never needed any preparation before. Wouldn't want to do more than a week's walking without training though!
My only remaining preparation is to break in my new boots and sort out the visa.
Hiya,
Well i hope I'll be ok as I this is my first one (but hopefully not the last as Ive already go my eye on many others)
I've finally got my visa and am just waiting until the 27th March now!!
No doubt everyone will be on the same plane and will be visible when at the airport? I've not flown alone before so this really is a 'first' trip for me!!!
Enjoy breaking in the new boots and willn o doubt see you at the airport! :-)
Alex
Hi Enid,
I'm flying from Gatwick :-( but will no doubt see you at the other end.
Looking forward to it......just around the corner now!
Hi
There are two more of us joining you but we will already be in Beijing as we're going a day early. The wall is SO steep, its 20 years since I was in China and saw it before and its still the landmark that has most impressed me , but it is steep and steppy! I got the impression its the accommodation thats challenging more than the walk though!
See you on the 28th March - hope the smog goes by then.
Clare
Hi there,
What kind of 'warmth' are you taking, re: clothing/base layers? Im not sure how much Ill need....
Alex
Hi all,
I'm also flying from Gatwick. Looks like it's going to be a quiet flight.
I was unsure of what warmth to take as well. The forecast for this week in Beijing looks like average British spring weather so I've packed a few thinner fleeces so I can wear several if does get colder.
I won't be complaining about any weather following a Sunday of snow shovelling!
Mike
Me too. Im just taking layers now and gonna pack my walking boots and walking trousers so I can wear something comfy on the flight as its definitely a long one (i.e. jeans and trainers!) Plus, its 80% humidity so I've got a feeling it could be 'warmer' than expected!!!
Ill be at Gatwick at 9am Wednesday so maybe see you there Mike!

Anyone out there going on the Great Wall of China Trel, departing 27th March 2013
If you are on it, drop me a meesgae. It would be great to get to know/chat to people before we go and see how everyones training is going. Also to meet at the airport on the UK side before travelling?
