Yosemite and the Canyonlands

Hi,

I'll be going on this trip. I am also on my own, and I've camped before, on a Sahara Challenge which was for a local charity. Last September I did the Exodus trip to the Great Wall of China which was great. I will be travelling on 25th May, so I will see you at the hotel then. I did a road trip with my late husband in the 90's to San Fransisco, and the Canyonlands etc, and I know that it's a great place (after the fog has dispearsed). I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your reply, apologies for not coming back sooner. I have recently retired from work and am finding life is busier than ever! This trip was top of my list for places to go after retiring so I am very excited about finally getting to see San Francisco and the Grand Canyon. I have been on several Exodus trips, two years ago Spice Trails of Kerala which was brilliant and made me realise I could manage camping. The other most memorable was Bosnia, definitely  one of my best holidays ever. I gather our trip is now full apart from one space and I am the only one going in advance. I look forward to meeting you and the other people on the 25th May. I live near Windsor. Best wishes from CS

I don't think you are the only person going a day or two before the trip starts. I'm sure I have seen a note from an Irish gentleman on here. Anyway, the time is flying by, so we'll soon be meeting up. By the way I am also retired and like you, busier than ever, lol.

Hi,

It looks as though you'll be able to charge it on some of the sites, though some will be in public places, so it depends on what you think. I'm a bit low tec so I'll just have a basic mobile phone and a camera that'll need charging.

Hi cherry13, I'm Charlie and I'll be arriving in San Francisco on 24th. I've booked into the hotel we all are staying. I think my flight gets in early evening on 24th. I look forward to meet up anyone that is going to be there earlier..... :-)

It's good to hear from you Charlie. I will arrive at the hotel in San Francisco on 23rd. I can leave a message at reception for you and hopefully we can meet up on the Friday evening once you have recovered from your flight. Are you the Irish gentleman P referred to? I live near Windsor. I am beginning to get excited about the trip and am almost organised with my kit. Have decided against bringing iPad as it would make me a very boring person if I get stuck on looking at a screen at every opportunity - the emails will just have to wait and I will have a holiday from all that. I live in Belfast....will be flying out from here to Newark on 24th itself then onwards to San Fran. I'll check out my flight bookings and get back on time arriving etc....

I did put in a post asking if there's anyone going to be in San Fran before 25th..... maybe kirtle61 saw my post. :-)

 This trip is my second with exodus. I had a fab experience with them in South America last year. I hope it'll be good this time too!

Sorry for lateness in getting back with flight details - UNITED has changed my flights on 2 legs of the journey!!!! I'm not arriving until 9pm now and by the time I get to the hotel I'm sure it'll be near 11pm.

I'm not sure how far the hotel is from the airport so I cannot guarantee meeting up with you on 24th evening. Hope I'm not too jetlag the next day..... maybe see you for breakfast???

 Have asafe flight out to San Fran, see you there.

I was hoping to go to the above mentioned national park on Saturday 25th. At present I'm checking out details e.g. transport, cost etc. So far on what I have read, likely will take the ferry and then the national park's shuttle bus.

Do have a look at the weblink, if you are interested let me know and I will keep you inform / updated on information I've gathered. If you prefer to use your usual email address, let me know and I will direct future communications there rather than through Exodus Departure Lounge.
