Explore Chile: the Atacama Desert, Santiago, the Lake District and Patagonia

Chile is a thin country, 4000km long and 190km wide but with an unparalleled range of geographic regions. Northern Chile’s Atacama Desert is the most arid in the world, with salt flats and geysers, and a cradle of ancient indigenous culture. Central Chile is famous for its fertile valleys and vineyards as well as the beautiful colonial towns that are a feature of the coastline.
Further south lies the Lake District, with dramatic peaks and snow capped volcanoes. Finally, in the extreme south, is Patagonia, the 'uttermost part of the earth', a land of lakes, mountains, glaciers and immense solitude.
