Reality Check
The hike in Los Nevados National Park takes place at high altitude (approx. 5000m above sea level) and this can cause shortness of breath, headaches, and sleeplessness. We start and end the day at much lower altitudes than the maximum reached at the viewpoint, which should limit these effects, but if you are concerned about the altitude you can of course decide to opt out of this hike.
Although we do not have any significantly long drives and road conditions are generally good, there are a lot of winding roads in the mountainous central regions, and those with acute travel sickness should be well prepared with suitable medication. These roads can occasionally be closed due to landslides and this can lead to delays - our local agents will do all possible to make sure we visit all the places listed if this occurs. We spend one night in Tayrona National Park sleeping in hammocks.
Accommodation is in thatched shelters, sharing with non-Exodus clients, and there are safety deposit boxes available for you to leave your valuables for this night. Although it is possible to stay outside the park and take a day trip to visit its beaches, nearby beach resorts such as Taganga have recently gained a reputation as backpacker party towns, and the hammock stay offers a more authentic and relaxing Caribbean experience.
Normal group size and age
Normally 9 to 16, plus leader. Minimum age 16.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some fitness, as the trip may involve more activities or longer journeys.
Wilderness: Visit the deserts, jungles, plateaux, tundra and mountains of all seven continents, including Antarctica.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
