Covering China's classic cultural sights and greatest natural wonders, we take a journey through Chinese history from Imperial splendour through the beginnings of the Silk Road to a Beijing hurtling full tilt into modernisation. Wherever we go we will confront one of the world's most remarkable and ancient cultures. The landscapes are equally inspiring; the grandeur of the Yangtze or the poetic beauty of Yangshuo where we may feel like we have just stepped into an ancient Chinese watercolour.

| Day 2 | Arrive Beijing. Free afternoon. |
| Day 3 | Visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and Summer Palace. |
| Day 4 | Visit the Great Wall of China. Return to Beijing and board overnight train to Xi'an. |
| Day 5 | Visit the famed Terracotta Warriors and Large Wild Goose pagoda. Late afternoon visit traditional Chinese market. |
| Day 6 | Free time; optional visit the Muslim quarter with its great mosque, and the enormous Bell Tower. |
| Day 7 | Free time. Evening flight to Yichang. Join Yangtze cruise boat. |
| Day 8 | Set sail. Relax on board as the boat heads towards the Three Gorges.There is an opportunity to visit the Great Dam project. |
| Day 9 | Entering the Three Gorges, there is the option to take an excursion to Shennong Stream in small boats. |
| Day 10 | Option to visit Fengdu ghost town with its beautiful temples and bridges. |
| Day 11 | Fly to Guilin; transfer to Yangshuo. Free time to relax and wander around this pretty town. |
| Day 12 | Day trip to Moon Hill. Afternoon float down the river Li on bamboo rafts. |
| Day 13 | Free day to relax, hire a bicycle or take a boat trip on the Li River. |
| Day 14 | Transfer to Guilin for flight to Beijing. |
| Day 15 | Fly to London. |
