Day 1: Depart London.
Day 2: Arrive Beijing; rest of day at leisure.
Day 3: Morning flight to Kunming; afternoon free.
Day 4: Visit the unique Stone Forest, a maze of incredible limestone pinnacles; overnight sleeper train to Dali.
Day 5: Sightseeing in Dali, a laid-back town on the shores of Erhai Lake and home to the Bai people.
Day 6: Free day in Dali; opportunity to hike in the surrounding mountains or take a boat ride on the lake.
Day 7: Morning drive beneath towering peaks and over mountain passes to Lijiang; free afternoon to explore.
Day 8: Visit Black Dragon Pool and Jade Dragon Mountain.
Day 9: Day at leisure to explore the cobbled streets of Lijiang.
Day 10: Drive to the Tibetan town of Zhongdian via the first bend of the Yangtze and Tiger Leaping Gorge; stop off at Shigu en route.
Day 11: Trek to Bita Lake; return to Zhongdian.
Day 12: Visit Tibetan village and the spectacular Songzanlin Monastery, restored after the ravages of the Cultural Revolution.
Day 13: Fly to Kunming; sightseeing including the Western Hills and Bamboo Temple.
