Discover real Tuscan life with leisurely walks and cultural visits

Away from the well-worn tourist trail, parts of Tuscany are still quite remote. We spend our week in the Garfagnana, a beautiful rural enclave flanked by the Appenines and the Alpi Apuane.
We discover the picturesque surrounding area on foot, walking from our lodge to the local town of Castiglione and small friendly villages. We also spend a day discovering the rugged coastline of the Cinque Terre where paths, trains and boats connect the pretty coastal villages and offer amazing views over the Ligurian Sea. Cultural visits to the walled city of Barga and historic Lucca are also a must.
Our Italian hosts for the week are known for their hospitality, with superb food and friendly service.
Everything ensures that this trip offers a great insight into traditional Tuscan life and the delights of this beautiful area.
What makes this trip responsible?
Due to a long and successful working relationship with our local family operator we have been able to play a part in the sustainable development of their business. Since we have been working with the family locally-based operator, we have helped them build a golf course and aided them in the production of their own wine, honey, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables, which we buy for our clients. This trip also utilizes the farmhouse owned by the Giovannetti family as our accommodation.
