8 nights in in 6 comfortable, family-run hotels. All rooms have ensuite facilities. The hotels have been chosen for their warm hospitality and typically Sicilian character.

8 breakfasts, a wine tasting on Mt Etna and 1 dinner are included.
Reality Check
This is a comprehensive itinerary, with a few long driving days due to the amount of distance that we cover on this trip.
There is some gentle walking involved on most days. The excursion on Mt Etna is on foot and we walk for up to 3 hours on hilly-to-steep terrain of old dried lava, rocky ash and sand. The walking isn't too strenuous and there are several cafés not far from the craters, where you can sit and wait for the rest of the group, should you prefer not to join the excursion.
Since we spend the first two nights in the same accommodation, the excursion on Mt Etna is optional and you may even choose to spend the day by the pool at the hotel, or explore the local village.
This trip has been graded 'leisurely/moderate', meaning that it is suitable for all people who are in good health and fitness.
Normal group size and age
Normally 6 to 16, plus tour leader and local guides in Palermo, Agrigento and Siracusa. Minimum age 16.

We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.

In order to provide a more accurate grading system, where a trip falls between two grades we use an intermediate or split grade, for example Leisurely/Moderate. Occasionally, there are optional activities available en route, in this case the optional grade is indicated in brackets, for example Grade Challenging (climb Tough+). Clearly, conditions may differ from region-to-region or month-to-month and as such the information given on these pages is designed to act as a guide only. In all cases you should refer to the respective holiday's Trip Notes for further details.
