Reality Check
Specifically to this trip, we would highlight the following issues for you to consider: This trip has been graded as grade B (moderate). Moderate graded trips are suitable for all clients with a good level of fitness though no experience of any activity involved is necessary.
We use comfortable hotels in Cairo and Alexandria however accommodation in the desert is basic. We camp in the desert, visiting remote areas with basic facilities so please take this into consideration in assessing whether this trip is right for you.
Egypt can get hot, especially during our summer, which can cause discomfort whilst travelling. Care should be taken to drink a lot of bottled water. The hottest months tend to be June to September in Egypt where temperatures can reach 38 to 40 degrees in Southern Egypt. Desert temperatures can be more extreme and it has been known to get down to freezing temperatures during the night in the desert. Please be prepared for this.
Ramadan Please note that the holy month of Ramadan will take place from 20th July - 18th August 2012 (dates can shift slightly). This is a time when followers of Islam do not eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. This can sometimes affect the opening hours of certain tourist sites. However we will ensure that that the itinerary is affected as little as possible if you travel during this period. Food and drink is available to tourists during the day.
Normal group size and age
Normally 4 to 20, plus leader and local guides. Minimum age 16.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some fitness, as the trip may involve more activities or longer journeys.
Mixed Activities: Activities may range from the ordinary (for example walking, cycling or whitewater rafting) to the damn right extraordinary (including caving, camel riding or canyoning).
Wilderness: Visit the deserts, jungles, plateaux, tundra and mountains of all seven continents, including Antarctica.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
