The verdant mountains and sweeping beaches of lively Rio de Janeiro offer a great contrast with the wide avenues, grand buildings and rich cultural scene of Buenos Aires.

On our journey between the two, we spend time in the coastal paradise of Paraty, where forested islands and idyllic beaches are set against a backdrop of lush mountains, and explore the mighty Iguassu Falls, which straddle the border between Argentina and Brazil. The different outlooks on life of the Brazilian and Argentine people become apparent as the pounding beat of samba drums gives way to the to romantic strains of tango, and zesty caipirinhas are replaced with dark and sophisticated Malbec.

Day 1

Start Rio.

Day 2

Visit Christ the Redeemer on Mt Corcovado; drive to Paraty (approx. 5-7 hrs).

Day 3

Schooner trip in Paraty Bay, stopping at beaches and islands, with cairpirinhas on board.

Day 4

Drive to Sao Paulo (approx 5-6 hrs); fly to Foz do Iguacu; visit Braziian side of Iguassu Falls; transfer across the border into Argentina.

Day 5

Full day visit to Argentinean side of falls; evening traditional barbecue.

Day 6

Fly to Buenos Aires.

Day 7

Morning walking tour; free afternoon to explore the city's colourful and atmospheric neighbourhoods.

Day 8

End Buenos Aires.
