Reality Check

This is a packed itinerary but Bhutan is a generally relaxed place so the tour does not feel hectic.

Road conditions are generally quite good but some sections can be bumpy, and as with all mountain roads the occasional delay can occur due to landslides or adverse weather conditions. The roads are also quite twisty on the mountain sections; if you suffer from travel sickness you should bring your normal remedy. There is plenty of time to enjoy the differing features of each centre whilst travelling through the magnificent countryside. There is time to study the monasteries, browse in the bazaars or just relax with a cup of local tea in incredible surroundings.

This trip is varied, although not demanding, and should appeal to those who like to see something a little different.

Please note that smoking is technically banned in Bhutan. Tourists are permited to smoke in certain designated areas but must bring their own cigarettes (up to 200 cigarettes). They must, however, pay duty on any tobacco product they import (up to 200% tax). Smoking in a public place can result in a fine as long you have proof of having paid the duty. If no proof of having paid the duty can be produced then there is the risk of a minimum 3 years imprisonment.

Normal group size and age

Normally 4 to 16, plus local Bhutanese guide. Minimum age 18.

Adult Group Holidays The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together. All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please see our Solo Departures page.

Leisurely Designed for people who are in good health, enjoy the outdoors and want a relaxing trip packed with interest.

Special Interest Special Interest: For those who have a passion for archaeology, food, flowers, languages or yoga. Solar eclipse and Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) departures and specialist conservation holidays are also included.

Relaxed Itinerary Relaxed Itinerary: A range of itineraries seeking out intriguing and off the-beaten-path destinations in a little extra comfort!

Culture Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
