What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Riding an elephant. The guides are amazing, and really go out of their way for you to enjoy the trip. The elephants are beautiful and clearly well loved.
What did you think of your group leader?
The group leader was amazing. Very informative and very funny. Kept the group together and went out of his way to ensure a great time.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be aware of how active the holiday is. It isn't restful, but it is beautiful. You see so much.
Climb Adam's Peak if you get chance, but it is hard work.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
This holiday is amazing, and well worth doing. I had a phenomenal experience, and adored every second.

A wonderful holiday that packed in many different experiences. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country, the people are friendly and there is plenty to see and do.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The elephant safari, white water rafting, cycling through paddy fields and villages, the stunning views from mountain tops, the delicious food, local people smiling and waving all the time, the wildlife and a very nice group with helpful guides.
What did you think of your group leader?
Sujee was excellent. The holiday packed a lot in and it was all organised extremely professionally. Sujee's local knowledge and obvious love for his country made the trip a real pleasure. He went out of his way to accommodate people who had different needs and requests and he was always helpful and friendly. I don't know when he can have slept! The driver and assistant were excellent too.

Be prepared for early starts and living out of a suitcase for a couple of weeks. I think we stayed in ten different hotels. It is worth it though, as you get to see so much of a very beautiful country.
If you do the Adam's Peak walk, it gets extremely busy near the top. Also, if you go on the whale watching trip don't accept a 'sea sickness tablet' from the captain. Ours had a sedative effect and everybody who took one fell asleep on the way back.
Great holiday with a balanced mix of cultural sites, wildlife and physical activites. Don't misunderstand me, it is graded leisurely, Adams Peak and grade 3 rafting are optional and the Horton Plains walk and cycle ride are gentle. There is just so much variety.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
For me the climb up Adams Peak even though there was no decent sunrise. But there are so many: Sigiriya rock, the cycle ride and lunch, elephants, views, swimming in the river, temples, the peace of Hortons Plains and the train ride.
What did you think of your group leader?
very good.

If you feel reasonably fit do Adams Peak but it isn't for everyone. TAKE YOUR TIME and do it at your own pace, take a head torch if you have one, also plenty of warm clothing for the top including extra socks as you have to take your shoes off. The worst part was the 2 hour journey to get there, too bumpy to sleep and I wished I'd taken travel sickness pills! Recovering from the lack of sleep was easier than I expected and it was good to have the Plains walk the next day so we didn't seize up.
Don't bother with dollars, sterling is fine and you can pay for trips and the tip kitty using £.
Take a waterproof and a lightweight umbrella if you have one (they make good sunshades too), we had a lot of rain even though it wasn't the rainy season!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Pack light as there are so many one night stops, you can wash clothes out at Kandy. Join in with things like the games and enjoy yourself. There is just so much to see and do, 2 weeks isn't long enough.
We thought the Yala game drive was a waste of time, lots of dust and diesel fumes, far too many jeeps in one place. But our driver was inexperienced and I heard the trip after ours actually saw a leopard!
Great trip in every way. A good selection of activities and could not have seen more of Sri Lanka in such a short time. The guide, Roshan, knew how to balance being there when he is needed and not being pushy.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Whitewater rafting (on a very gentle river) watching the world go by and the locals bathing in the early evening. The Sri Lankans were amazing friendly and hospitable. I have never been to a country where so many locals waved spontaneously as we passed.
What did you think of your group leader?
Roshan was outstanding. He's the best tour leader I've ever travelled with. It is no surprise that he won Exodus tour leader of the year. He was incredibly insightful on Sri Lankan history and culture and gave us a perfect level of detail.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take lots of mosquito repellant.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The first hotel we stayed in was very basic. Don't be put off by this. It was by far the worst hotel we stayed in. Most of the hotels we stayed with were great.

Just the perfect combination of activities, scenery, history, tour leader, group dynamics, fun, weather, accommodation, food, organisation, information and support staff.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were quite a few.
Achievement and reward - climbing Adam's peak (5,500 steps) and seeing the sun rise across the mountains and the shadow cast across the landscape behind - just magical.
Scenery - from the walk to Worlds End and the view from the train journey were all awesome
Enjoyment - watching the elephants at the orphanage play, bath and interact so gently with each other it made you marvel at the sensitivities and humility of these fine large animals
What did you think of your group leader?
Faultless. He was well organised, calm, polite, knowledgable, humorous and good fun. He also cared a great deal about his county, its people, history, culture and its future so you empathised much more with the country through his knowledge, passion and balanced observations. He joined in with the group and at the end he said "he felt he was on holiday with us". I think that is a great compliment to him and the group that went.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Go.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The Yala National Park was not as good as anyone's expectations. So either make it an option or be a bit clearer on what to expect. Jostling mad jeep drivers, too many cars for the area, a dust bowl due to number of jeeps making photography very difficult, animals keep their distance (due to noise I expect), roads are in terrible condition so ride is horrendus, area open to visitors is not that large as only a fifth of the park area.

Wow! What an amazing holiday. Such a beautiful lush country, full of bright colours and friendly, smiling people. I loved every minute. It's definitely a very varied trip, with something for everyone.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The bike ride was a highlight, as it gave us a chance to get close to the locals. The train journey was great fun, the elephant ride was worth every penny but the most inspiring was seeing an elephant in the wild, not even in a park, just ambling across the road, it was very special.
What did you think of your group leader?
Sujan was fantastic with "maximum tolerance"! He was very patient, helpful and knowledgeable, with a great sense of humour, which he needed, with 16 of us!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Missing a night's sleep to climb Adam's Peak was hard but well worth it. However, it's very cold at the top, so wear trousers and take a fleece... or two!
Mosi repellant is definitely needed, especially by the coast.
I think it's important to know that the Whale watching costs an extra £50.00. Perhaps a little pricey but I was glad went, I got to see humpback whales and dolphins.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
It was my first Exodus trip and will be recommending it to my friends. It was seamlessly organised and the hotels were phenomenal, well maybe not the first one, but they just kept getting better and better!. My favourite was Hotel Sigiriya with it's spectacular buffet.
I feel very lucky to have shared my first holiday in 3 years, with such a lovely group of people!.
