In appreciation of tour guide Mahindra Soni, Nov 2013.
The man is a GENIUS in his field. Apart from taking care of the day-to-day details that made our tour memorable, he cared for us and he cared about us.
He used his initiative in the bigger picture when border closure threatened the tour. Whilst keeping us informed enough to be reassured and calming anxieties, it was obvious that he was working tirelessly behind the scenes.
He endlessly provided delightful extras: minor detour to points of interest and local eating places for example. “Activities to give the experience” as he would say.
His wit and enthusiasm would buoy us if we flagged, his flexibility catered for our needs and preferences. His wide local knowledge informed us. His astute use of well informed local site guides enhanced our understanding. This perfectly dovetailed with the Exodus ethos which we all appreciated.
He transmitted an air of confidence that was fully justified. He has given us a store of wonderful memories of our Exodus trip from Delhi to Khatmandu that will last a lifetime.
All-in-all he fixed everything except the weather and the roads!
An ode to Mahi.
Our guide Mahindra is a Legend in his time,
We sing his praises, tho’ it may not rhyme
But I’ll make scan,
If I can.
He will lead and we will follow
For nothing will hinder our progress with Mahindra.
Crossing borders, climbing mountains,
bouncing about in his bus,
He takes GOOD care of us.
For it’s his daily task,
He’ll do anything you ask.
I do believe that he would try
to make that bless-ed bus fly.
Felly, canmolwn ni o hyd,
Ie, dros ledled y byd,
Yr arwr o’r India, Ei enw-?- MAHINDRA!
