This was the most different holiday I have ever been on - North India was a total assault on the senses and quite intense at times and challenging to my western sensibilities. Overall I totally loved it although after a week in North India I was glad to get to Nepal which is less hectic.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Too numerous to pick one. The Taj Mahal was amazing as were the Anna Purna range and the flight to Everest. I absolutely loved the journey to Rajastan as you see such a lot of Indian life on the way. Temples were amazing.
What did you think of your group leader?
He was amazing! Very knowelagable and looked after all our needs as well as being excellent company, kind and patient
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

The train journey needs mental preparation if you're worried by cockroaches and mice! Come with an open mind and as our guide said view it as an adventure

Don't pack too much if you like to shop

Don't make eye contact with hawkers as they can be VERY bothersome

Is there anything else you would like to add?
It might have been good to have a little more opportunity to not always eat togther with the whole group to allow for a little more independence

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Taj mahal is worth it. Had wondered if the crowds would diminish its splendour but no - was beautiful.
What did you think of your group leader?
Jitu was comedy and eased our way round India and Nepal. Thought he was great.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

its a bit of a full on trip. Also if you don't fancy the 10 hours on a bus between Pokhara and Kathmandu and want an extra day at either location there are fairly cheap flights between the two daily

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Ok - lets talk Elephants. My whole group decided to not go on the elephant safari as we were not happy with the way the elephants were chained. Appreciate they are well fed, not over worked etc but they had two legs chained together so tightly they couldn't move at all. The baby elephant had its front legs chained together so tightly to get to its food it hopped like a rabbit. This is not exodus' fault. Nor should the elephant safaris stop as its an important revenue stream for the  farmers and I'm sure the tourism helps contribute to the cost of conservation - ride and elephant, save a tiger. however, if we truly want to embrace responsible tourism we should encourage exodus and other tour operators to ensure the farmers know that we'd all prefer it if the baby elephants were penned with their mother (no need to chain as the babies don't go far) and that westerners would prefer to see the elephants chained by one leg to a stake so as to restrain them but not to limit their natural movement by chaining their front legs together. Happy to discuss.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

visiting the Taj mahal at sunrise and experiencing the holy city of varanasi. The experience at the river ganges was amazing and very spiritual.

I especially enjoyed when our group[ got a chance to attend an Indian wedding on the street and we had the chance to dance. The people were glad to see us and welcomed us as one of thier party.

I got the chance to experience the culture and diversity of India and visited Indian villages.

every day was  inspirational on the trip and I would recommend this to anyone who is thinkng of going.

What did you think of your group leader?

Fantastic very knowlegeable and his zest for life rubbed off on the whole group.

He was very accomodating and treated us like his family. The trip was exciting and fun because he had a great sense of humour and kept us going, always laughing and joking. He was an excellent group leader  and had a lot of skills , as a single female travelling on my own, I felt very safe and secure in his capable hands.

Avtar made the holiday what it was and as he says added lots of spices which was much more than I expected.

I can say if any one is lucky enough to have Avtar as the group leader they will not be disappointed.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

    no

Is there anything else you would like to add?
no just that I loved it.

Fantastic sights, sounds & smells in India-everything you imagine and more. Would highly recommend the extension trek from Pokhara-not too hard walking, and gave us time to enjoy & reflect on the whole trip. Very grounding after the whirlwind of India

It was a fantastic holiday with so many highlights.  If you are looking to experience different cultures, the history and modern day realities, this is the trip for you.  I can't believe how much was packed into the 2 weeks.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

There were so many highlights - which may sound like an easy way out of answering the question but it's true!  As you would expect the classic highlights were amazing, such as the Taj Mahal, the gnats at Varanasi and the elephant backed safari at Chitwan.

I loved the insights into real life, cows wandering through busy traffic in the cities and helping themselves to vegetables from market traders stands, 5 people riding on one motorcycle - which you realise is quite normal after a while, bamboo scaffolding tied with twine that holds up high rise buildings, the genuine welcome from villagers into their homes despite them having so little, the kids love having their photograph taken and then looking at the digital image....

What did you think of your group leader?

Avtar was a brilliant leader, probably the best leader I've had on an Exodus trip (this was my 6th).  He took such good care of us and packed in so many extras into the itininary, he was extremely well organised and made the trip flow seemlessly (this didn't happen by chance - I'm sure it was due to Avtar's hard work and passion for sharing India with us).

I felt very safe at all times and so well looked after.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Come with an open mind and you will have a brilliant time.  On a more practical note, bring hand sanitiser and some snacks (if you are not feeling great it's comforting to have something familiar and that is safely packaged).  Also, make sure you have a spare memory card for your camera - you will be amazed at how many photos you will take.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

If in doubt just go for it - this is a great trip with so much packed in.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The Taj Mahal brought tears to my eyes when I first set eyes on it amazing. Varanasi was an experience seeing the ghats and Ganges.

Chitwan gave pleasure and laughter while being washed by an elephant and seeing one horned Rhino...alas no tigers came out to play.

Lastly the amazing Amber palace 2nd to the Taj breathtaking....

What did you think of your group leader?
As always Exodus provides the best of local knowledge Kristian was extremly knowlegable and had a great sense of humour...He even invited all 16 of us to a friends wedding.....
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

This is a full on trip lots of early starts and many hours travelling not for the faint hearted...Keep off of meat stick to Rice and Veg and keep your hands clean...

Be prepared for possible delays or cancellations The overnight train was so delayed we decided to drive through the night and morning...Delays at Katamandu airport is a mad house.....

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I love India and will be booking again to visit the South. India has everything in an adventure holiday it's an experience everyone should have and it will make you appriciate what you have !!!!!!

In a word 'AWESOME'.This was my first tour(having backpacked mostly) and first trip with Exodus and I was totally blown away.Such an amazing adventure and couldn't have asked for more. Two full, fun-packed weeks and a brilliant mixture of noise and chaos plus moments of pure peace and calm.Stunning natural sights, beautiful monuments to see, and all the fun of travelling by bus through India and Nepal and getting a real glimpse of these two beautiful countries.Want to return for sure.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
So many.. but my personal favourites were Varanasi -loved the contrast of sailing along the peaceful Ganges compared with the vibrant ,crazy life of the town.Lumbini-birthplace of the Buddha,a very spiritual and moving place, along with the Bodnath Stupor. Also beautiful Chitwan and its wildlife, stunning Jaipur, the first sight of the stunning Annapurna range, plus fantastic meals and chats with lovely new friends and so much more. It just got better and better and we all joked that  the 'highlights'just kept getting higher!
What did you think of your group leader?

Again,AWESOME.Krishna was amazing -really warm and friendly, sharing great stories along the way, loads of fun and full of enthusiasm for all the places we visited.Always happy to answer questions and pass on interesting facts wherever we were, ensuring we got the most out of everything we did.He really made sure we were happy and comfortable, especially on some very long road trips and organised some of the best food Ive ever had, including an Indian picnic on the bus!Even when our train to Varanasi was delayed and we went by road Krishna handled the situation brilliantly and dealt with everyones issues, somehow managing to turn the whole thing into even more of an adventure.

Felt very well looked after and safe at all times..wouldnt have been the same without him and the fantastic drivers and helpers, especially Cha Cha and Soner.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Just throw yourself in and enjoy the ride (but keep some anti-bac in your pocket).People told me that India would get under your skin and that I would adore Nepal and they couldnt have been more right.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I had a few concerns as to whether this trip would be right for me-it looked quite hectic and alot of travelling in a short space of time. But it was truly fantastic and I wouldnt have missed it for the world.Really came away with a love of both India and Nepal and cant praise Exodus and all the efforts of their guys highly enough.
