A wonderful holiday, full of great experiences, sights, laughs and smells!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
It was wonderful to see the great sights such as the Taj Mahal and Amber Palace  and I wouldn't have missed them for the world but the bits I enjoyed most were the impromptu stops and activities not on the specific trip itinery, such as rickshaw rides through the streets of Old Delhi, visiting a village school, camel cart riding and so much more. These things really bought the life and culture of India alive!
What did you think of your group leader?
We had the most wonderful group leader (Avtar). It was he that took us down the 'back streets' so to speak and see the sights off the tourist trail that really made the trip for me. It was my first time travelling alone and I always felt save and comfortable. Avtar was fun, full of energy and always had a story to tell!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
It is a busy trip with most mornings being up at 6am and sometimes earlier so be prepared for this but a great way to see some wonderful sights. The first week in India is busier than the second week in Nepal. My only disappointment was that the weather was foggy most days and apparently this is often a problem in mid Nov - Dec. It thus stopped us seeing any of the Himalayas in Nepal and cancelled the Everest flight. (Oh well - just need to book another trip back to Nepal!)

This was my second trip with Exodus and it was fantastic. The first part, up to Varanasi, is fairly fast paced. In Nepal, however, it was much more relaxing. Considering how much one gets to see in such a short period of time, this trip is extremely good value for money.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

On my flight back from Kathmandu to Delhi I was lucky enough to be sitting on the right side of the plane and had a full view of the Himalaya mountain range. Purely breathtaking.

Also, in Chitwan N.P. we got very close to a Rhino. That was a lot of fun.

What did you think of your group leader?

Avatar knows his stuff. He's very helpful and approachable. Personally, I have to say thanks for the extra stop we made on my request to see the Bridge over the Ganges in Varanasi.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Make sure you get enough sleep, especially during the first part of the trip.

If you're into photography, take a (fast) tele-zoom lens; you'll need it in Chitwan.

In Pokhara, rent a boat and paddle on the lake.

If you have any special requests, don't hesitate to ask your group leader. In my experience, they are usually more than willing to accomodate you.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Nope. It's a worthwhile trip, period.

From "in-your-face" India to rural Nepal, this was a holiday of contrasting countries and experiences. The India week is fast and furious and anyone expecting a gradual introduction to this amazing country should not apply!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Floating off-shore on the Ganges to watch the evening ceremony in honour of the river was spine-tingling. Standing thirty paces from a rhinoceros in Chitwan was equally impressive.  I added on the 4-day trekking option and the friendliness and serenity of rural Nepal will remain treasured memories.

What did you think of your group leader?

Harish opened our eyes to much that we would have missed without his obvious enthusiasm to share his country. At times he seemed reluctant to 'let go the reins' with a group who were all relatively seasoned travellers, but on the other hand he poured a mean rum and coke ........!

On trek, our guide Pemba and the trusty Thunduk and Duktak could not have done more, giving us four days of quiet enchantment and an incredible number of vertical stone staircases!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be prepared for long days and long journeys, but also remember that the hours are filled with colour, noise, experiences, laughter, memories. I wouldn't have missed it.
Is there anything else you would like to add?

This is a mind-blowingly varied trip which may not suit everyone, but if you have a sense of adventure, a strong stomach and a good alarm clock - go for it!  Take plenty of hand-gel, plenty of film or memory cards, and an open mind. If you are able to add on the trek extension, it is hard but well worthwhile as long as you are prepared for very basic facilities en route.

I feel like I have been on an adventure of a lifetime! Saw so much, did so much and feel so fortunate to have had such a trip! I feel I saw real India! India is an assault on the senses!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

So many memorable experiences .......... the initial impact of India via a rickshaw ride thro' Delhi, laughing together on a camel cart!, listening to school children chanting their morning prayers and seeing their sneeky smiles!, walking hand in hand with village children in Nepal, sunrise on the Ganges, seeing a rhino!

What did you think of your group leader?

What an amazing guy - Avtar was passionate about India, lovely and warm, determined that we would get the most out of our trip, giving us lots of opportunities to see real India by providing lots of experiences not on the itinery! He was so helpful and kind and made sure all our needs were met! Such a organiser, making sure everything ran smoothly, but always with a touch of humour!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Set off telling yourself that you are going to experience as much as possible and that you will appreciate it all! Nothing can prepare you for some of the sad sights and experiences - it certainly helped me to get things into perspective. Don't be put off by the long coach journeys in the intinery - they were a great way of seeing India and Nepal - I thought I would end up trying to grab some sleep but ended up determined to stay awake so I could see as much as possible and I certainly did - lovely to see the rural areas and how people live and how resourceful they are! Don't be put off by the early starts - it really is worth getting up very early to be on the Ganges in a boat at sunrise and see the ghats and the morning prayers.  And to share the peace and tranquility in a canoe in the Chitwan National Park, with your fellow travellers, pointing out pied kingfishers and crocodiles.

    "

Is there anything else you would like to add?
It was such as good trip - it is a full itinery and very varied and if you are lucky to get Avtar as a guide you will get some extra "spice" added with lots of extra activities to see real India!  The trip incorporates culture, history and nature which makes it quite unique. Everything was well organised, from the comprehensive trip notes, queries answered promptly in advance of the trip, a lovely friendly welcome by our guide in India and feeling secure all through the trip that our guide was always there to make sure everything ran smoothly. I hope to travel with Exodus again, would love to visit other parts of India and would recommend Exodus to friends!

What an amazing trip!  We saw so much in India that our feet never touched the ground.  Quite tiring but worth the early mornings.  Our tour leader, Avtar, was just the best.  He took us to so many places that were not on the itinerary and found an amazing restaurant for us each evening, often ordering for us – I am spoilt forever now for Indian restaurants in the UK!  After a manic week in India, it was lovely to relax in Pokhara and soak up the atmosphere of this tourist town.   This was our second Exodus trip and will definitely not be our last.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
We visited 2 schools in India and a village in Nepal.  Their desire for education puts us to shame.  Children as young as 5 were learning English and able to hold a conversation with us.  Even though the conditions they lived in were, to our minds, dirty and basic, the children were all turned out immaculately in their school uniforms.  At one of the villages, our whole group was offered hospitality even though, I'm sure, they had nothing to spare.
What did you think of your group leader?
Avtar Singh was our Group Leader and was brilliant.  He took us to so many places that were not on the itinerary as he wanted us to see the "real India".  He found excellent local restaurants and provided picnic breakfasts and lunches so that we could spend more time travelling.  His devotion to duty was such that, on the overnight train to Varanasi, he didn't sleep, even though he had an awful cold, so that he could make sure we were all secure and comfortable.  This man deserves all the praise bestowed on him!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be prepared for early mornings but never say no to any off-itinerary suggestions your guide might suggest.  Don't be afraid to eat local food and just enjoy every minute.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
If you are able to go on this trip, go for it - you won't regret it!

A fantastic trip; exciting, colourful, emotional and awe inspiring.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The sights were fantastic (sunrise over the Annapurnas, the Taj Mahal, the Ganges and the Buddhist stupa at Bodnath etc) but for me meeting the villagers and school children brought India to life.  I also enjoyed the elephant ride through the jungle and canoe ride in Chitwan.
What did you think of your group leader?
Avtar was a brilliant leader.  He was so full of enthusiam he swept us along with him.  He never seemed to sleep and made sure we had plenty of early starts to fit in as many experiences as possible, many of which were extra to the itinerary.  He had an excellent relationship with the villagers and children we met along the way and I think has missed his calling as he would have made an excellent and inspirational teacher, although he would be a loss to the travel industry.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
We were careful with the food we ate and our use of hand gel and stayed well throughout the trip; very important with the long bus rides involved.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
A very well organised and exciting trip.  Will definitely be booking with Exodus again.
