Incredible trip - a wealth of sights and experiences packed into two weeks.  It's a busy schedule, but well worth it!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Very hard to choose, but I did particularly love the evening boat ride on the Ganges at Varanasi.  There's a magical quality to the city and I felt so happy to be there, soaking up the atmosphere!

Another highlight was the journey to Nepal.  Yes, it's a long, bumpy bus ride, but the scenery is amazing and absolutely fascinating, and I even found the slightly manic border crossing fun and exciting!  Arriving at the beautiful hotel in Lumbini for dinner and a beer was a good feeling at the end of the day.

What did you think of your group leader?
Ronit was very well organised and kept a good eye on us.  He was really helpful when I got sick one day - called a doctor as soon as we arrived at our hotel.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

If you're taking Malarone, take it properly!  I started it too early and on an empty stomach, resulting in a day feeling ill.

For the overnight train, pack toilet roll, a sheet sleeping bag and some snacks for breakfast.

Don't change too much money when you get to Delhi airport as it's easy to get it changed everywhere and you won't be able to use the large (500/ 1000 rupees) notes in Nepal.

Don't worry if there's not much time to shop in India - there are tons of opportunities in Nepal (Pokhara and Kathmandu)!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
This is an absolutely fantastic trip - full-on itinerary, but thoroughly enjoyable.  I could only have seen and done a fraction of this if I'd tried to organise it myself - Exodus have planned a brilliant trip!  I would do it all again tomorrow if I could.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Gange boat trips and Chatwan local activities are the right opportunities to taste the local realities and their cultural heritage

What did you think of your group leader?

A structured and organized man. Great courtesy and avaliability.

Deep knowledge of the local realities.

More attention in picking up common dinner locations may be helpful. Local offer is massive!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Newer and more equipped local buses may help to have a more confortable trip.

An internal flight may help to avoid at least a 10 hours bus journey

The trip was great right from the start right from meeting our leader off the plane. The group gelled instantly. Our guide showed us all the amazing sights of India and Nepal but then gave us wonderful insights into the life and culture of these countries also. It truly was a life changing experience.

The majesty of the Taj Mahal

The complete attack on the senses at Veranassi

    Magical sunrise on Fishtail peak

    Experiencing village life

What did you think of your group leader?
AMAZING! He looked after every single one of the group for the whole time, making sure we all got the most out of eacvh experience. I don't know how he did it but he was truly inspirational.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Pack a mix of clothes - it gets truly cold at times and none of us had enough warm things!

Be prepared for long bus journeys - they are worth it!

Throw yourself into the holiday to get the most out of the experience.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
If you have the slightest desire to see the main sights of India and the countryside of Nepal this really is a great trip. There was so much variety on the trip and all of it great. This was my first trip as a solo and I was slightly nervous - but not for long.

Nothing I say can truly do justice to how brilliant the trip was. It far exceeded my expectations about what the two countries we visited have to offer, and about the depth, diversity and power of experiences a tour can provide in just two weeks.   Many thanks to Exodus and our group leader for this fantastic journey.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

It is impossible to single out one (or even a small number of) highlights from the trip. There is a variety of things on the itinerary (and the huge number of additional opportunities to experience the two countries outside of it), all of which have been insightful and memorable in their own right.

Although I wouldn't call that a "moment", one of the most inspirational things for me have been the opportunities to observe the whole spectrum of peoples' daily lives--be it though a walk along the Ganges in Varanasi, during our numerous visits to local villages or, most importantly, from a bus window on our bus journeys between towns (which were among my favourite parts of the trip).  Families warming themselves next to roadside fires at dawn; children going to school; early morning crowds next to pop-up chai places;  tiny barber shops opening straight onto the streets; colourful village markets; smoke rising from street food stalls; wedding processions; funeral pyres... You name it.  It is just mind-blowing.

What did you think of your group leader?

Avtar's knowledge, enthusiasm, kindness for his fellow human beings and tireless willingness to seek out additional ways for us to experience the two countries (or just plain have fun) were crucial for making the trip such a fantastic experience. He has a remarkable ability to get on with people, which helped us to feel like welcome guests rather than intruders during our spontaneous stops in villages, at weddings or people's homes.

He also did a great job in helping us sort out even minor needs, and making the trip run smoothly and efficiently.  Whenever there was free time he was full of ideas and advice about how to fill it depending on needs or interests of specific individuals in the group. Basically the whole trip felt like travelling with a good friend who is doing their best to show you their home country.

Easily the best tour leader I ever had.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

It is a very intense trip, and it is natural to feel tired at times but do try to take up any opportunities for optional extras offered/recommended by your group leader.  Some of my most memorable experineces from the trip -- Bollywood, exploring the riverside at Varanasi on foot and walking back to Pokhara after seeing the sunrise-- come from overcoming fatigue to join in entirely optional activities.

Be realistic with your expectations about transport.  There are some long and bumpy bus journeys, so be mentally prepared for that. Having said that, I actually loved every hour of those these rides for the amazing chance to observe the diversity of nature and people of India and Nepal.  (And maybe to catch up on sleep...)

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Although I haven't mentioned it above, the trip also offers some great opportunities for casual wildlife observation/photography, which are also immensely enjoyable if you are into that sort of thing!

We had a fantastic holiday, full on, and new experiences almost every day.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Seeing the Anapurna mountains in all their glory
What did you think of your group leader?
Krishna was great, taking care of our every need, and providing us with so much interesting information and facts.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Yes, when you cross the border from India to Nepal, make sure your passports are stamped with an exit stamp from India, and an entry stamp into Nepal.

Ours were not stamped on entering Nepal, and it cost us about an hours time, and $4, at Kathmandu Airport Immigration. It was most frustrating and left a black mark on our holiday, right at the end. Fortunately, it didn't spoil the holiday.

Be prepared for the train to be late leaving Agra, and beware of the rats on the station !!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
This is a full on, exciting holiday, with new experiences virtually all the time. We would thoroughly recomend the four day trek at the end, which provides the 'icing on the cake' of a fantastic trip.

Inspirational, life changing journey. So much fun, as well as informative, and did I say fun?

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Meeting Avtar Singh, our guide, in the coffee shop of our hotel, and realizing that my fears about taking my first ever organized trip were unfounded. He exudes competence, confidence, compassion, understanding and knowledge without even saying a word.

Our multinational, mixed age group of 11 gelled immediately and became adopted family. ( 10 plus Avtar)

Sunrise over the Mtns in Pokhara.

First glimpse of the Taj, then everchanging highlights as our action packed days were divided into nanoseconds

Even the long a bumpy bus trips give numerous insights and experiences.

What did you think of your group leader?
I cannot speak highly enough of Avtar Singh. He effortlessly imbues knowledge and weaves you a rich and colourful tapestry of history, culture, politics, economy, diplomacy,  entertainment and more.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Take an open mind, good sense of humour, and a an aptitude for fun.

This is a serious cultural trip, interspersed with many spontaneously magical moments.

An ipod is good for long trips, and noise cancelling headphones are good if you have them. Not necessary, just good.

Premoistened toilet tissues and lots of hand gel.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

There is too much to add.

Just take a blank canvas and return with an intricate picture of colour and movement.

Nothing you have eve read or done can prepare you for this lifechanging adventure.

Thank you so much, Exodus, Wil, Lou and Avtar

    Sunrise at the Taj Mahal

Sunset & evening prayer on the Ganges at Varanasi

Early morning on elephant back in Chitwan Park

Sunrise at the Annapurnas from Pokhara

    Pashputinath at Kathmandhu

Rickshaw rides through the mayhem  !!

What did you think of your group leader?

Harish was first class, took care of everything ! Helped us get to see the "real" India by stopping at local markets and family homes en route. Picked out good restaurants. No "Delhi Belly" for us ! Good personality, sense of humour & knowledge.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

I`m sure people considering this kind of trip will realise it`s not a holiday, you probably won`t come back feeling

rested and refreshed ! But you will come back having had a great travel experience, seen and done really memorable things, with plenty of tales to tell.

We always felt safe and welcome, with the local people always ready to try and talk to you,  even if they needed to get over some initial shyness first.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Just do it !! If you`re not sure and worrying about this or that - just take the plunge !!

We`re going to book a "Tiger trip" with Exodus soon !
