Discover the extraordinary and colourful people of Orissa, a truly remote and fascinating area of India
Orissa is home to over sixty different tribes, many of which have retained their traditional dress and rites. We visit their markets and villages, giving us a real taste of the amazing diversity this rural area has to offer. In southern Orissa we encounter the Kondh tribe, hunters who live in the hills and are known for their tattooed faces. The Bondos are fiercely independent, whereas the friendly Gadabas are renowned for their love of music. We also visit some of the wonderful temples of Orissa. These are immense and unique in their architecture, and the town of Puri is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage places in India.

| Day 2 | Arrive Calcutta; afternoon train to Bhubaneshwar. |
| Day 3 | Drive to Baliguda. |
| Day 4 | Visit tribal village of Kutia Kondh (tattoo-faced); to Rayagada via the weekly tribal market of Kutia Kondh people. |
| Day 5 | Visit the tribal hamlets of Dongariya Kondh; afternoon drive to Jaypore. |
| Day 6 | Drive to Onukadeli to see the majestic Bonda tribe; to Gadaba for colourful market of Gadaba people. |
| Day 7 | To Kundi market, biggest tribal market of the region and home to the Paraja tribes; afternoon visit Kotpad, a traditional weaving village; to Rayagada. |
| Day 8 | See Dhuruba tribe at their market; later drive to Gopalpur and visit beach. |
| Day 9 | Drive to Puri via Chilka Lake, famous for its migratory birds; evening optional traditional dancing show at Konarak. |
| Day 10 | Free day in Puri. |
| Day 11 | Sightseeing in spiritual Puri including Jagannath Temple, market and potters' village; visit the Konarak Sun Temple; to Bhubaneshwar. |
| Day 12 | Free morning to explore Bhubaneshwar; afternoon train to Calcutta. |
| Day 13 | Sightseeing visit to Victoria Memorial Hall and Kali Temple. |
