We had an action packed two weeks in Rajasthan though we never felt rushed.  We stayed in some wonderful hotels.  I have never learned so much about a country in such a small space of time thanks to the excellent guides.  The experiences could not have been more varied from the camel fair to the temples, lakes and desert.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were many as the trip was amazingly varied.  But, I suppose it was the Taj Mahal as the sun came up before the crowds arrived and again at the end of the day from the other side of the river as the sun went down.
What did you think of your group leader?
"Bali" Balvinder Singh was an exceptional leader.  Our group quickly bonded as a happy group of friends with him as our "captain".  We had experiences over and above the already excellent itinerary.  Bali ensured that each of us had our needs met, whether that meant a cart rather than the back of a camel, time to shop or a trip to a hospital for an x ray!  He conjured up a boat when none should have been available and took us all to the movies. He entertained and informed us with his "stories" about India between destinations.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Add to the "What to Take" list; hand sanitizer and a universal plug.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you, Exodus for  a most marvellous travel experience.

I'm writing this review 2 months after returning from the trip and we're still buzzing about how great it was - fabulous hotels, great group, excellent guide (Balvinder), and stunning scenery, temples, palaces and cities to visit. We don't generally do return holidays but we will definitely be returning to India with Exodus!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Really too many to mention but:

    • the Taj Mahal at sunset from the other side of the river
    • dinner by the lake at Udaipur with all the reflected lights from the ancient buildings
    • sunset cruise at Udaipur
    • Camel fair at Pushkar
What did you think of your group leader?
Balvinder Singh was brilliant throughout - warm, friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble for him. He added in several extra visits over and above the itinerary and many of these were real highlights - e.g. visiting the Sikh Temple in Dehi
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you are thinking of going on this trip - don't hesitate!

A fantastic trip in which we visited some lovely places and it was also very thought provoking.  The group were great.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Staying at hotels which were converted palaces especially Jaipur and Deogarh.  My bed was like a plinth.
What did you think of your group leader?
Could not be better.  A very easy person to get along with and a store of information.  He also made a great effort for my birthday for which I will always be grateful. Brilliant.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
You have to be tough to go to India in mind and body even on a soft trip unless you are a teenager. I like to wander around on my own as much as possible and took every opportunity which was possible on this trip.  I think all trips should have this option as much as I liked the group you miss out on a lot if you stick to the group the whole time in my opinion.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to thank Exodus and Rudy for the lovely birthday surprise they organised for my 50th birthday.  I had thought I might be sitting in my room quietly opening my one card but instead the day was great fun for all of us from start to finish.  A big thank you.

My first trip to northern India, and it was a great introduction to the sights, sounds and smells of Rajasthan. Nice group, really good hotels, and ticked off all the major boxes while including a few surprises.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Hard to say as there were so many, but either riding with the locals on the little rural train from Deogarh or watching the Diwali fireworks from a rooftop restaurant in Udaipur then running the gauntlet of the firecrackers in the winding streets afterwards! I also found the trip to the bear sanctuary was very inspirational - it's good to know there are people out there who devote themselves to helping these amazing animals.

What did you think of your group leader?
Khaled was well organised and knew how to deal with a mixed group of people well. His local knowledge was very good, and he was always making sure we were enjoying the trip. The only downside was he sometimes tried to dissuade restaurant staff from making our food too spicy, even when we wanted a bit of a kick to our curries!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Don't ask the tour leader how long it's going to take to get from one place to the other - it's practically impossible to say how long it takes to cover a set distance in India unless you're on foot!

Although you'll mainly be eating in good quality restaurants, take some rehydration salts and immodium just in case.

Be prepared for some unique hotels - we stayed in some incredible fortresses and palaces - but remember that this kind of hotel may not be as clean and have all the same facilities or standards of service as your average identikit 5-star hotel.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
If you want to experience India with an added bit of luxury, then this is the trip for you. Ideal as a first-time trip, especially if you're slightly worried about diving headfirst into the hustle and bustle.
