This was our fourth Exodus trip and, once again, the experience lived up to our expectations.  The balance of guided tours to free time and exploring cities and exploring countryside worked really well and provided us with wonderful memories.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

On being greeted at the airport by our tour leader Jatin, who said that if I was still smiling at the end of the holiday then he would feel happy that he'd done his job.  That set the scene - the Indian people were lovely - and I was still smiling at the end of the tour!

Seeing the Taj Mahal at dawn - it didn't matter that I'd seen it in the media a thousand times before - here it was for real!

What did you think of your group leader?
Excellent - a sense of humour, very knowledgable and very professional.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Make sure you get some small denomination notes or coins as soon as possible for tips - everyone seems to give you large denominations.
Is there anything else you would like to add?

More time in Delhi.  A lot of the time we spent driving around in a mini-bus, with very little time to explore. This is an observation rather than a complaint, as I appreciate the enormity of the place together with time constraints.

We were subjected to the usual Exodus visit to a (carpet) factory and some other emporiium (which I refused to go in).  My wife and I don't like what still seems like an obligation to buy despite protestations from the employees. It's not just an English thing - our group of 6 were from England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Canada and USA- and none of us enjoyed such visits!

This was a great trip.  The itinerary, destinations, accomodations were great.  Our group was outstanding.  I would not hesitate to go with Exodus again.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Hard to pick any one thing.  Our group, 14 Brits and 2 Americans, was very good.  The group added greately to the trip.  The destinations and sites were well selected.  The Indian people are wonderful and the kids just made me happy.  Taj Mahal is truly beautiful.
What did you think of your group leader?
He was a bit of a disappointment.  He got everything done and sometimes went above and beyond, but overall, a disappointment.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

India is not for everyone, but if you like traveling to interesting and unusual places, it is great.  The trip was a little harded than I expected, but nothing bad at all.  Some of the distances are long and the roads are a bit rough, especially the speed bumps in the villages.  We seemed to have less free time than I thought we would.  We changed a wad of money at the New Delhi airport on arrival and never regretted it though the exchange rate at some of the hotels was very slightly better.  We saw very few mosquitos, most days zero.

Exodus does an excellent job.  If you are thinking of going to India, this is a very good way to go.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

This was billed as a Premium Adventure.  I think that meant that we got upgraded accomodations.  Our hotels were quite good.  Most were heritage hotels, very interesting.

No one ever had a stomach problem.  We ate at a variety of restaurants and hotels and no problem.  We used liquid hand sanitizer liberally.

We had a very good group.  Everyone was congenial and easy going and cooperative and FUN.

A very well balance trip for visiting the place, knowing more the culture, meeting the people, shopping crafts and leisure. But if you don't want a leisure time, your guide will arrange something special for you, be sure!!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
A walk around the Khimsar's market was as unforgetable as seeing the Taj... Taj is architecture, beauty and sensation. Meeting the people on their market is not only beauty and sensation, but also laugths, discovery, colloured happiness, tasty chai and sunbath!
What did you think of your group leader?
Avtar Singh is a enthusiastic person that wants to show you everything you can see in such a small time in India. Untiredness, always there for your needs, and also a pacient translater of this curious culture. He's provided the group with some extra activities, without compromise the schedule, just to show us a lot of more India! Difficult to have someone better!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you are occidental, be prepared for cultural impact. Indians do not think as occidentals, everything is diferente. If you understand it (even if you don't agree), you will profit much more.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I was invited for a weeding in India, but I didn't want to cross half world without visiting that curious country. As I couldn't go alone for such a adventure, I joined Exodus. And I've discovered a friend guide, a super companion to share room, nice travelers fellows, and of course, India! This amazing country, full of history, palaces, forts, culture, spirituality, collors, spicy foods and much more - definitivelly the best trip of my life!

This was an exceptional, memorable visit to a dynamic and stimulating country, they say India assaults all your senses and it is quite true.   This trip to Rajasthan certainly did that for me and I can't wait to go back!   The people, the ancient history, the rural communities, the forts and palaces all left an indelible impression on me.  It struck me very much that huge efforts were being made to bring clean water, education, electricity and access to health care to the remoter communities.    The food was outstanding with a wide choice - and no, it wasn't all curries if you didn't want it to be!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Quite a few:   The Sikh temple in Delhi was a very spiritual and uplifting experience for all members of the group, the magic of the Taj Mahal, the enormous size of the Amber Fort, the forts at Jaipur and Jodhpur, the heritage hotels particularly Khimser Fort and Deogarh, the Pushkar Festival, the rail journey along the ridge of the Aravali hills, visits to the villages including a very valued invitation to take chai with a village family which was not scheduled!   The friendliness of the people, especially the children.   And our stay in beautiful Udaipur with the lakes and City Palace.   Our last night in Delhi was also memorable as we joined an Indian wedding taking place at the restaurant we went to (with their permission of course) and were made so welcome.   We were lucky enough to be in India at the peak wedding season so saw many processions, decorated horses, beautiful saris, loud music, fireworks and much happiness, from obviously very wealthy families to those with fewer resources.

What did you think of your group leader?
Mr Balvinder Singh was absolutely outstanding, a most exceptional guide and friend to us all.   Nothing was too much trouble for him and he was always full of information about his country, its customs, history, religious beliefs and traditions which helped so much in understanding India and its complexities.  He always sought out various visits or experiences and places to eat that he thought we would appreciate which added to the trip.   I would consider it a privilege to be able to join another tour where he is the leader and his company (KVT) should be proud to have him as an employee and ambassador for them, as indeed should Exodus.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Only the usual, to go armed with Immodium as most people seem to get Delhi belly once!   Also take some cold remedies or throat sweets.   With the aircon in the bus it meant any colds travelled round quite quickly so go prepared.   Most evenings we ate outside so take something warm for the evening.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
This whole trip was well organised, busy but comfortable with a mix of modern hotels and heritage hotels with both having all mod cons.   Exodus and KVT have produced a brilliant visit to Rajasthan which is excellent value for money and whets the appetite for more..

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Pushkar camel fair and Taj Mahal
What did you think of your group leader?
He was excellent, well organised, very knowledgeable, charming, considerate and a very nice person.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be aware that there is a lot of coach travel.  Be warm mornings and evenings.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I suggest that the coach we travelled in needs a re-furbishment and some new shock absorbers!

We had an action packed two weeks in Rajasthan though we never felt rushed.  We stayed in some wonderful hotels.  I have never learned so much about a country in such a small space of time thanks to the excellent guides.  The experiences could not have been more varied from the camel fair to the temples, lakes and desert.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were many as the trip was amazingly varied.  But, I suppose it was the Taj Mahal as the sun came up before the crowds arrived and again at the end of the day from the other side of the river as the sun went down.
What did you think of your group leader?
"Bali" Balvinder Singh was an exceptional leader.  Our group quickly bonded as a happy group of friends with him as our "captain".  We had experiences over and above the already excellent itinerary.  Bali ensured that each of us had our needs met, whether that meant a cart rather than the back of a camel, time to shop or a trip to a hospital for an x ray!  He conjured up a boat when none should have been available and took us all to the movies. He entertained and informed us with his "stories" about India between destinations.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Add to the "What to Take" list; hand sanitizer and a universal plug.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you, Exodus for  a most marvellous travel experience.

I'm writing this review 2 months after returning from the trip and we're still buzzing about how great it was - fabulous hotels, great group, excellent guide (Balvinder), and stunning scenery, temples, palaces and cities to visit. We don't generally do return holidays but we will definitely be returning to India with Exodus!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Really too many to mention but:

    • the Taj Mahal at sunset from the other side of the river
    • dinner by the lake at Udaipur with all the reflected lights from the ancient buildings
    • sunset cruise at Udaipur
    • Camel fair at Pushkar
What did you think of your group leader?
Balvinder Singh was brilliant throughout - warm, friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble for him. He added in several extra visits over and above the itinerary and many of these were real highlights - e.g. visiting the Sikh Temple in Dehi
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you are thinking of going on this trip - don't hesitate!
