This is a really good trip with a great deal of variety and yet despite the distances covered still managed to seem like a relaxing break. Morocco is justifiably a travellers paradise and this trip manages to include so many highlights that the memories will last forever.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were a few highlights but for me the truly memorable moments were the visit to Hassan II mosque in casablanca which is simply too impressive for words and the camel trek into the Sahara. Camel trekking itself isnt always particularly appealing but the scenery we trekked through was absolutely spectacular!
What did you think of your group leader?
Mustafa was brilliant, very relaxed, chatty and humorus. He was a wealth of knowledge and spoke excellent English. He genuinely took an interest in the clients and in his job
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take extra care with your cameras, particularly compact digitals, the sand gets everywhere and caused havoc with about three peoples cameras during the trip. You might find it better to sleep on the roof of the desert auberge as it can get too hot in the rooms. Most of us slept out in the desert instead of inside the tent despite a sand storm because it was still the better option as the tent was far too hot. Otherwise relax and enjoy yourself. The Todra and atlas mountains walks are fairly easy strolls, so no real need for splashing out on hiking boots, decent trainers should suffice for most people.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
As usual Exodus has managed to put together a trip package which reflects the local culture, history and adventure opportunities which was nothing less than enjoyable from start to finish. So many highlights, Hassan II mosque, Todra gorge, Sahara desert, Fes, Essaouira and bustling Marrakech, this is simply a trip no serious traveller should miss!

This trip was a good introduction to Morocco, with a variety of things to see and do, visits to the main cities and the countryside.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The visit to the mountain village of Tighza and the ability of the people to live in such a harsh environment

What did you think of your group leader?
Mustapha was excellent, very knowledgable about his country
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you're thinking of going on one of these trips, go for it!  I found that we needed more money for the meals not included than it said in the brochure.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I went on my own (but not on a solos trip) and was a bit worried that I would be the only person on my own, but there were several other people on their own, and everyone was friendly and us 'solos' didn't feel left out.  The trip was very enjoyable and we saw a lot of Morocco and it's such a beautiful country.  The organisation by Exodus was excellent too

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The camel trek through the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi,  the walking in Todra Gorge and the Atlas mountains, and the serenity of the Jardin Marjorelle in Marrakech.
What did you think of your group leader?
Rachid is an absolute star leader!! Patient, funny and has great enthusiasm . He's knowledgeable and obviously very proud of "the kingdom "of Morocco. Also an expert in the ritual and drinking of mint tea!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Don't be mislead by the grade of "leisurely" in the Exodus brochure. This holiday for me was perfect mix of activity. I'm 45yrs and reasonably fit and really enjoyed the activities, however some in our group found the camel trip exhausting, 6 out of 16 did the Todra gorge walk:  many found the walk up to the mountain gite too much ( 5km up a mountain road/track, last part in the dark and a jump across a stream! )- so much so that many in the group didn't want to take part in the mountain walking the following day, though they were very happy to relax on the balcony of the gite in the sunshine, so no pressure to take part of course. So just ensure you have a reasonable level of fitness, a sense of humour and enthusiasm to take part ! Many in the group kept commenting that the holiday wasn't as "leisurely" as they'd expected, despite clear trip notes.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Women ! -Take warm stuff for mountains and desert night. Long sleeved cool tops,- you are expected to cover arms/ legs mostly, loose cotton trousers useful. Marrakech was more liberal. A shawl or scarf that can cover your head too- needed in the mosque in Casablanca - I took a simple scarf and versatile sarong. There's a swimming pool in the lovely desert lodge, and one in Marrakech.  Also walking boots. no need to take a water bottle/container, bottled water is easily available.

A corkscrew came in handy for the "quietly "purchased and very good local wine ! also an alarm clock, torch and alcohol hand gel useful.

I thoroughly recommend this trip! Bon Voyage !!

One of the best Exodus trips I have been on in terms of variety and leadership. Morocco is a great place to visit!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Probably the Saharan camel trip and sleeping out under the stars. Or was it the night with the belly dancers?
What did you think of your group leader?
Mustapha was excellent. Charismatic, knowledgeable and considerate. Hard to find any faults.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If visiting over the winter period Morocco can get very cold at night and in the mountains. A four-season sleeping bag and lots of fleecy layers are a must.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
This trip exceeded my expectations. However, be prepared for one or two days of long travelling and some early starts!

Fantastic trip.  It's a real shame that it will not be run in this format anymore.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Essaweria was great, the perfect ending to a great trip.
What did you think of your group leader?
    Fastastic.  Mustapha was incredible.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
    Enjoy yourself.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Make sure you pack warm clothes in the winter.  Most people did not and spent the trip complaining about how cold it was!!!

    Exodus Response

Thank you for your comments regarding the format of this itinerary. Although the 2008 version was a success, we were forced to make some changes due to a change in one of the accommodations.

I would like to assure you that we are considering returning to this format should the previous accommodation prove they have now met our high standards.

This was a great way to see a lot of the country in a short space of time. We visited hugely contrasting areas and learned a lot about the history and culture of Morocco.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

For me, that has to be the visit to the "gite" deep in a valley in the High Atlas Mountains. The scale of the landscape, the total peace and the opportunity to see a way of life that has changed very little in recent times, was a great experience.

(Not sure that "gite" is the right way of describing the accommodation-it was more like a glorified youth hostel, but  fun neverthless.)

What did you think of your group leader?

Moustapha was fantastic in every way! He showed great patience and humour in dealing with the various needs of the group, was hugely well-informed and proud of the culture of his country and always had a keen eye to our safety and wellbeing.

Mention should also go to our driver Jemal who kept our minibus spotless and always drove safely on some "interesting" roads!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If travelling during December or January, make sure you pack those thermals, hat, gloves and that good quality sleeping bag! It got very cold sometimes and heating was non-existent in the rural areas, as were hot showers. However, accommodation was adequately clean and there were plenty of blankets for extra warmth at night. Also, take a bottle of antiseptic hand gel to keep in your pocket at all times to guard against tummy problems.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Don't choose this trip if you are expecting luxury but do go if you want a great learning experience and lots of fun. There were some very long journeys between places but tea stops were regular and the company of fellow travellers added an extra dimension to the trip.
