Essential Information
Trip Profile
Travel by private minibus and on foot; 4.5 days community work in Tijhza, Toubkal and Tafedna.
Accommodation
Our Riad on the outskirts of Marrakech has 4 comfortable double rooms and 2 large quadruple rooms - all en suite. Thanks to the remote location of Riad Bledna, the gardens are relaxing and there are peaceful views across the High Atlas Mountains from the swimming pool.
In the mountains, we stay in Kasbah Oliver that has recently been built by our local project managers. Blankets, sheets and pillows are provided and thanks to electricity being linked to Tijhza Valley in 2004, the Kasbah has lighting, but there is no heating so it may get chilly in the evenings.
Our Gite in Imlil has a similar set up to the Kasbah with no en suite rooms but flush toilets and showers. The rooms will be dormitory style with mattresses placed directly on the floor and you will be sharing with 2-3 people, depending on the size of the group.
Both the Kasbah and Gite are run with environmental issues to the fore and are run by our local project managers so are highly appropriate places to stay.
Food
All breakfasts and 5 dinners included.
Reality Check
Our project work could be anything from painting, mixing cement, moving boulders, to digging holes. The work will be of a manual nature and a willingness to get your hands (and clothes) dirty is essential.
Normal group size and age
Min. 7, max. 16, plus Andy Mckee, the founder of this project and local drivers. Minimum age 18.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
In order to provide a more accurate grading system, where a trip falls between two grades we use an intermediate or split grade, for example Leisurely/Moderate. Occasionally, there are optional activities available en route, in this case the optional grade is indicated in brackets, for example Grade Challenging (climb Tough+). Clearly, conditions may differ from region-to-region or month-to-month and as such the information given on these pages is designed to act as a guide only. In all cases you should refer to the respective holiday's Trip Notes for further details.
Walking & Trekking: Trips are wholly trekking-focused or simply include a significant number of walking days during the itinerary.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
