Asia's backroads including the Golden Triangle and Mekong River

After exploring the cities of Bangkok and Chiang Khong in Thailand we head to charming, tranquil, laid-back Laos, many people's favourite Asian destination.
We adapt to the pace of life by cruising slowly down the Mekong, exploring river caves and admiring the temples in dreamy, monastic Luang Prabang.
Away to the south is Cambodia, a country shaped by tragedy, where everyone we meet will have a story to tell.
From Phnom Penh's wide boulevards we head north to Siem Reap with two full days to discover the magnificent Khmer ruins of Angkor, which just missed out on being added to the new list of the seven wonders of the world a few years ago.
What makes this trip responsible?
In Luang Prabang we support the Laos River Village Project aimed at improving educational opportunities for children in rural communities along the Mekong River. See the Project page for full details
There will be the opportunity to eat for a good cause at either Sala Bai or Green Gecko restaurants in Siem Reap, both of which train under-privileged young Cambodians and provide street children with vocational training and general education to allow them to find a job in the tourism industry.
