A very enjoyable and varied holiday. As always, there was a lot packed into a short time but in some respects there was more leisure time than on some previous Exodus trips I have done. Accomodation was better that expected.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

My boyfriend wanted to visit Ankor Wat so that is why we chose the trip. I like to visit different countries because I am interested in the landscape and the people. My advice would be, don't view the journeys between towns on the bus as a chance to catch up on sleep. For me this is often the most interesting part - seeing life as it really is for the majority of people in that country.

Considering their very recent history I was inspired by the Cambodian people. Almost without exception they were friendly, happy, smiley people who welcomed us at all times.

What did you think of your group leader?
We had 3 leaders on this trip although the one in Thailand was only for a brief period. The leaders in Vietnam and Cambodia were both excellent but special mention has to made for our Cambodian leader. He was a lovely man who shared many personal stories with us about his life during the Pol Pot period even though it was clearly difficult for him at times. He was extremely professional and at the end of the trip I felt honoured to have known him.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

We were there at the end of March and it was very hot! I believe it gets even hotter in April so that is something to consider if you don't cope well with heat.

As I said above, if you want to see rural life in Vietnam and Cambodia stay awake on the bus. You'll miss so much if you don't.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We have done quite a few trips with Exodus and I would rate this trip amoung the best.

I would comment that if you haven't been to Bangkok before, don't expect this trip to give you the time you need to see it properly. It really is a flying visit. Make sure you do a trip in the future that gives you a few days there to do it justice.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Seeing Angkor Wat in all its splendour.  It really is as breathtaking as I imagined.

What did you think of your group leader?
Our guide in Vietnam was excellent but the real star of the trip was our guide in Cambodia.  He was extremely interesting, enthusiastic and passionate about his country.  He always had a smile on his face and shared both his knowledge and his personal memories of a very interesting and beautiful nation.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

A great trip to give a taste of the 3 countries.

Try the rat-it tastes like chicken!!  But give the spider a miss!!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Be prepared to sort through hundreds of photos when you get home!!!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

It was very moving in Cambodia listening to our guides recollection of the days of Pol Pot and how our guide's father and 2 brothers were taken away and executed when he was only 7.  It puts things into perspective.

Ankor Wat - more stunning than I expected.

What did you think of your group leader?

    All great.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
It's hard to pick just one inspirational moment, as it was the overall cultural experience that inspired me. In particular the Cambodian people, who are bright, cheerful, optimistic and helpful, despite having an horrific recent history, and the knock-on effect of poverty.
What did you think of your group leader?
We had a different leader in each of the three countries, all of whom were excellent. The majority of the trip is in Cambodia and our guide there was particularly outstanding - very knowledgeable, well organised and with a very contagious smile!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you like the sound of the trip then go for it! And make sure you try the fried spiders (tastes like pork crackling!!!).
Is there anything else you would like to add?
    Enjoy!

Very well structured trip, the guides were essential to provide the very recent historical context and to understand how the people and economies are recovering and rebuilding.  The trip included a lot of travel but this allowed us to meet local families along the way and to see their way of life.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Meeting a family from a rural area who invited us in to see the house, they then dressed in their best clothes (school uniforms) and let us take their pictures, they then showed us their family photos.  Really warm and genuine experience.
What did you think of your group leader?
Three different leaders, all provided somenthing different, very good.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be prepared to be organised by someone else, strange when used to independent travel

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The friendliness of the people in both Vietnam and Cambodia and the honesty of the guide in Cambodia regarding his country.
What did you think of your group leader?
Since the holiday covers three countries, and there has to be a different leader for Angkor, you end up meeting a lot of guides. This does give an amazing range of perspectives but also means that you don't build the same raport that you would spending 2 weeks with the same guide. In general the leaders were very good.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

It's hot and pretty humid, even in the cooler season - the only time you might need anything other than shorts and t-shirt is for visiting the temples. Insect repellent is a must, even with 50% DEET most people got a few bites, therefore take both antihistamine tablets and cream.

Most importantly enjoy the opportunity to enjoy countries that are just starting to embrace tourism. Learning to use chopsticks is also useful!!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
There isn't a lot of activity on the holiday, so if this is important then this holiday may not be for you, however if you are looking for a very sensitive journey through Cambodia then it's fantastic - seeing Vietnam and Thailand in the same holiday offers some great contrasts.
