Reality Check
You should be aware that the size of Peru means that this trip involves some long drives and you should be prepared for this.
The buses used are comfortable and the scenery is outstanding. There will be several stops along the way to help break up the journey.
Although the rainforest lodges we use are clean and comfortable, they are remote and facilities are limited. In particular, you should note that electricity is only provided in the main buildings, not in the bedrooms.
This trip spends considerable time at altitude - please see the Practical Information section in the Trip Notes for more details.
Normal group size and age
Normally 6 to 16, plus leader. Minimum age 16.
Misc
As well as the standard itinerary, some departures of this trip have been designated Premium - we follow the same itinerary, but stay in upgraded hotels wherever possible and have a higher personal weight allowance on the Inca Trail. Look out for these departures in the Dates & Prices page.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
In order to provide a more accurate grading system, where a trip falls between two grades we use an intermediate or split grade, for example Leisurely/Moderate. Occasionally, there are optional activities available en route, in this case the optional grade is indicated in brackets, for example Grade Challenging (climb Tough+). Clearly, conditions may differ from region-to-region or month-to-month and as such the information given on these pages is designed to act as a guide only. In all cases you should refer to the respective holiday's Trip Notes for further details.
Mixed Activities: Activities may range from the ordinary (for example walking, cycling or whitewater rafting) to the damn right extraordinary (including caving, camel riding or canyoning).
Wildlife: Trips may be wholly wildlife focused, or contain an element of wildlife viewing within a less specific itinerary.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
Certain departures of this trip are marked in our brochures and online as Premium Departures labelled with
against the specific date. On these departures some elements of the trip have been changed to provide more comfort - this will generally mean we have raised the standard of hotels or switched from camping to comfortable lodges, but it may also include other changes, for example, where a long train journey has been replaced by an internal flight. Specific details about what elements of the trip have been changed can be found in the relevant sections of the Trip Notes.
