Essential Information
Trip Profile
Travel by minibus, pirogue (boat) and ferry.
Accommodation
11 nights hotels, 1 night desert camp.
Food
All breakfasts, 9 lunches and 8 dinners included.
Reality Check
The trip is leisurely with the only challenging physical activity being the climb up the cliff to visit the Iwol village (1 hour).
Our accommodation in hotels is simple but clean and the facilities do not always work as you might expect them to. Showers may have cold water (only in a few hotels), therefore please leave behind your need for western comforts.
In order to get a general view of Senegal and Gambia some long drives are unavoidable. Roads are mostly paved but may be bumpy in certain parts (as on the way to Dindefelo Waterfalls as well as in the Gambia). A sense of adventure, a sense of humour and a degree of flexibility will be invaluable on this exciting adventure.
Normal group size and age
Normally 4 to 18, plus leader and appropriate local staff. Minimum age 18.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some fitness, as the trip may involve more activities or longer journeys.
Special Interest: For those who have a passion for archaeology, food, flowers, languages or yoga. Solar eclipse and Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) departures and specialist conservation holidays are also included.
Mixed Activities: Activities may range from the ordinary (for example walking, cycling or whitewater rafting) to the damn right extraordinary (including caving, camel riding or canyoning).
Wildlife: Trips may be wholly wildlife focused, or contain an element of wildlife viewing within a less specific itinerary.
Wilderness: Visit the deserts, jungles, plateaux, tundra and mountains of all seven continents, including Antarctica.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
