Senegal & Gambia Adventure

Tripcode: AQG

Countries visited: Gambia, Senegal

Adult Group Holidays Moderate Special Interest Mixed Activity Wildlife Wilderness Culture

Abundant wildlife, spectacular views, vibrant cities and stunning beaches

Iwol Village

From the soft sands of Lampoul to the lush forests flanking the Gambia River, the natural treasures of Senegal and the Gambia are only matched by their vibrant culture. We start with the hustle and bustle of Dakar and the infamous Goree Island, where slaves were loaded onto ships bound for the Americas. From here we journey through wetlands rich in birdlife, rolling sand dunes, past baobab trees and down languid rivers. We visit colonial St. Louis with its derelict charm, a traditional Bedik village, megalithic stone circles and the paradisiac beaches of Saly. This part of Africa is renowned for its prolific birdlife which we experience on a number of occasions as we explore Djoudj National Park (recognised as one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the world), the delta at Sine Saloum and navigating along the Gambia River. At Wassadu, in Southeast Senegal, we also have the opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, monkeys and other wildlife. We get to soak in some of the urban vibes of West Africa with its sights, sounds and smells assaulting our senses from every direction. Whether it's delving into natural wealth, rich history or modern culture, this trip is a true Senegal and Gambia Adventure.

What makes this trip responsible?

We use locally run accommodation on this trip and this contributes directly to the local communities as local staff are employed and locally produced and sourced goods are bought for the accommodation. Our guides give guidelines and information about how to best enjoy wildlife viewing without disturbing the animals themselves.
