Reality Check
Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world and some of the hotels remain very basic. Please leave behind your western comforts! There are some long drives on this trip (detailed in the itinerary) - not all roads are asphalted. Your reward will be seeing areas almost untouched by tourism, rare and beautiful wildlife and the warmth of the Ethiopian people. This trip goes to altitude. The highest point is the in the Bale Mountains when we visit the Sanetti Plateau which is 4000 metres above sea level. If you are ready to forego some home comforts and bring along a sense of Adventure then the rewards will not disappoint!
Normal group size and age
Normally 8 to 14, plus leader. Minimum age 18.
Misc
Ethiopia is a country of contrasts, and combining this trip with Discover Ethiopia allows you to delve into the country's rich culture, natural wonders and endemic wildlife. The departure dates have been scheduled so that you can travel on both tours without repeating any of the itinerary, and a GBP120 discount is available if you book both trips together. It is also possible to organise extensions to Lalibela, Harar and the Simien Mountains. Please see Trip Notes or talk to our sales team for more details.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some fitness, as the trip may involve more activities or longer journeys.
Wildlife: Trips may be wholly wildlife focused, or contain an element of wildlife viewing within a less specific itinerary.
Wilderness: Visit the deserts, jungles, plateaux, tundra and mountains of all seven continents, including Antarctica.
