Reality Check
While no previous experience of sea kayaking is necessary, we would recommend that you don't book a week of kayaking unless you are sure it's for you. Just an afternoon in any sort of kayak should let you know if the paddling stroke comes naturally. Those who pick up most sports reasonably quickly should have no problem. You should expect to paddle between 4 and 6 hours a day, and of course we will allow plenty of time for beaching the craft to enjoy a swim, a leg stretch or a lunch stop.
Our kayak guides are trained to BCU (British Canoe Union) standards, and groups larger than 8 will have two guides. Generally we offer double kayaks, although we can accept requests for singles if made in advance and dependent on availability at the time of the trip. The kayaks have storage areas, so you can carry water, cameras, sun cream, snorkels etc during the paddling day. The support boat will carry larger items where necessary.
On a number of days we are supported by a traditional-style Turkish Gulet, so we are never far from facilities or a place to rest. On some evenings we may eat on board and enjoy the sunset, or even sleep on deck.
Our local partner may ask you to sign an 'acknowledgement of risk' form before undertaking some of the more adventurous activities included as part of the tour. In signing this you will not be limiting your legal rights, as these are governed by our booking conditions and your contract remains with Exodus.
Normal group size and age
Normally 6 to 16, plus leader(s). Minimum age 16.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some fitness, as the trip may involve more activities or longer journeys.
Special Interest: For those who have a passion for archaeology, food, flowers, languages or yoga. Solar eclipse and Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) departures and specialist conservation holidays are also included.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
