I had a great time in Turkey. Kas is a lovely friendly town and the locals friendly. As with previous reviews the walks on this tour should be regraded leisurely-moderate.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Visiting the ruins of Arykanda was the main highlight of the trek. The food at Kas as well as the swimming on the beach.
What did you think of your group leader?
Full of knowledge and passion about his country.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Dont expect the walks to be hard though there is some uphill bits. Dont expect too much when visiting the sunken city - enjoy the kayaking part
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Lots of sun screen! Try the turkish ice cream..

Beautiful places, lovely people, great food, lots of goats - just not enough walking!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The day in the mountains was by far the best. Exploring Arykanda with virtually nobody else there was particularly special (the site is extraordinary, with excellent preservation of standing ruins, no intrusive interpretation and the most magnificent views), lunch at the home of a local family was wonderful and the walk down the mountain throught the cedar forest, although easy, had amazing views
What did you think of your group leader?
Ozgur was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, he clearly cares very much about the area and is keen to share it with others

I came up with a new rating system during the week:

    Pace = leisurely

Distance per day = leisurely (i.e. short)

Terrain = Occasionally moderate and requiring some agility

Climate = Moderate, possibly rising to challenging during the high season

This is not a holiday for keen hikers, however it is also not a holiday for people who do not hike regularly. Keen walkers may be better off travelling independently rather than choosing this holiday. I chose it because of the balance between walking and more leisurely activity. However, the walks were simply too short and too slow for me.

A note on the sea kayaking: I really enjoyed it as an activity but the experience of kayaking over the 'sunken city' is very much on the tourist trail - do not expect a quiet 'unspoilt' experience

A gentle walking trip based in Kas, exploring local routes. Very enjoyable. Excellent guide. A nice week's break.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

As a frequent Exodus traveller I've become accustomed to a certain standard, and this trip met my expectations!

A gentle walking trip, based in a hotel in Kas. The walks varied in length, and took into account the abilities of the whole group.  The guide was also flexible: on the first day's walk we didn't want to take the boat back, and she was happy for us to find our own way back.

I normally go on 'challenging' trips, but as my wife was pregnant we thought we'd opt for a 'moderate' one. This seemed to be on the 'easy' end of moderate, but was enjoyable nonetheless. On some days the activities ended mid-afternoon, so we often went for an extra walk - the guide was good at suggesting places to go. We'd recommend the hill behind the hotel for anyone interested in a steep climb!

The town was nice, with lots of good places to eat (including for vegetarians). We ate as a group some nights and did our own thing other nights.

The guide was excellent, an expat who'd lived in Turkey for 15+ years. Friendly, professional and knolwedgeable.

The rafting was fun - would definitely recommend it - though we were glad we hadn't booked on to do a week of it - a day was just right for us!

The accommodation was fine although slightly basic - absolutely nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either!

Would definitely recommend the trip to others.

Good, relaxing, well organised and thoroughly enjoyable.  Less energetic than other "moderate" walking holidays I have been on.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Wonderful visit to Arykanda - I'm not generally a "ruins" person, but this was really fascinating.
What did you think of your group leader?
First class.  He was knowledgeable, well organised, pleasant company and showed interest and concern for all in the group.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Although daytime temperatures were warm, evenings can get quite cool (mid-October), and some people found that they had not taken enough warm clothing.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Having been on several "moderate" walking holiday, I found that the walks on this one were shorter and tracks easier.  This did not detract from an excellent holiday.

Visited some interesting sites, and walks were varied if a little short on some days.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Walking along the remains of the roman aqueduct.
What did you think of your group leader?
    Friendly, knoweledgable.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Was not expecting the group meals every evening.  We like to do our own thing and was very surpirsed to be expected to join the group BBQ on the first night, and subsequent nights.  It was particuarly frustrating to be told briefings for the next day would be held after dinner - which we did not want to join!

I had a lovely time - I didn't really know what to expect . . . I hoped it would be hot weather, pleasant walks mainly to archaeological sites, sea and mountain views, with a companionable group of people. It certainly did provide all that.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
"The most inspirational moment" . . ummm. Not sure. There were a number of little explanations that illuminated the things we saw . . for example, the Patara aqueduct worked on syphonic principles, and that after the Romans had discovered how to make water go down a valley then back uphill using this principle, they didn't build any more traditional aqueducts. Or the gravestones in the cemetery for people buried in the 1940s who had been born in the 1300s (ie before Attaturk's calendar reform).  Or the whole Arykanda site.
What did you think of your group leader?
Alison was lovely. The whole group was very supportive, and I'm sure this emerged at least partly because Alison was clearly careful to chat to everybody individually, and to make sure everyone felt included. She was also very helpful and knowledgeable.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Walking poles - and boots - are useful on the downhill bits of walks. Sea kayaking was good fun, but be prepared for blisters and/or aching arm muscles.

I thoroughly enjoyed another Exodus holiday. Our guide Alison was brilliant, having lived and worked in Turkey for 16 years, she had excellent local knowledge and was really informative. I would recomend this holiday and exodus to my friends.
