I found this trip to have a good mix of sightseeing & walking, with time for a swim at some of the beautiful beaches at the end of the walk, which was a bonus. The general pace of the trip was easy - moderate.  Kas is a great base, with a good choice of eating places, to suit all pockets. The Oreo is a basic clean hotel, with a pool, great views, and helpful staff.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

My highlights were : the ancient Lycian city of Arycanda, I agree with the trip notes, it is "outstanding", and it was in a beautiful setting in the Mountains. Afterwards we had a delicious home cooked lunch with a local couple in their lovely rural garden, this kind of experience makes the trip different from the usual holiday.

My inspirational moment was the day Sea Kayaking in the region of Kekova, not just because it was a beautiful fascinating area, but because I took myself out of my comfort-zone by Kayaking, and it was a great experience.

What did you think of your group leader?

Alex was our group leader, assisted by Turgut. Alex is English, and now living just outside Kas, Tugut was born in Kas, so I found they both complimented each other,  in their knowledge, and in their guidance.

I found them both friendly, helpful, & considerate to the Group's wellbeing & safety

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

I recommend you consider carefully what time of year you choose to go on this trip, as the temperatures can rise to almost 30 in the latter part of May. I would also recommend walking boots with a good tread, particularly for the Uzumlu walk which can get slippery & uneven under-foot.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I travelled alone to Kas, and stayed for 2 nights before the trip started. I found the local people to be welcoming, and felt safe on my own.

An overwhelmingly enjoyable holiday, with wonderful weather, in a beautiful location, with the nicest possible fellow travellers, and the most considerate and thoughtful guide who went out of his way to make sure we all had a really good holiday. And every single Turk we met was friendly, welcoming and charming.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Lots of super moments. Lovely walks, beautiful beaches, great restaurants, fascinating shops and markets, incredible old ruins to visit, fun kayaking, delicious meals cooked by villagers, friendly hotel with welcome swimming pool, and enjoyable company. What more do you want on a holiday?

What did you think of your group leader?
Could not have been better. Very interesting to talk to about Turkey and living there as a retired ex pat. He went out of his way to consider our needs and to make sure we were all happy. He thought through his itinery to make the best of the time we had there, took us to pretty and interesting places to walk, swim, eat, kayak and just visit.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Only thing perhaps would help, the meeting point at the airport is actually a little walk away from the airport itself in a coach/bus type area. You cant miss it as the path away from the airport has to go through this, but the instructions imply one is meeting right outside the airport building, when in fact it is a  walk away from it.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
    Very thrilled with our holiday

Should have done my homework better as it was too hot for me to do any serious walking - ended up more of an endurance test! Loved ending the walks with an opportunity to swim in the sea.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Paragliding has to be the best moment for me - fabulous

Sea kayaking for the day was also great.

Meeting the local people in the villages and having the chance to have lunch with them and chat about how life is for them.

What did you think of your group leader?
Group leader was good but I felt he was used to a more active/younger group
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Check the weather for the time of year you are travelling!

A great choice for a last grab of sunshine before entering the English winter. Beautiful scenery, undemanding walks, great food and surprisingly good wine (Turkish wine was a revelation).

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Hard to decide between the spectacular coastal views and my first trial dive, where I saw a green turtle.
What did you think of your group leader?
Deynep was close to perfect. She had a bubbly enthusiastic nature and became a friend to all of us.

Just the right mixture of sunshine, walking, stunning scenery, surprisingly sophisticated Kas with dining to match and a lovely group of 8.  A great introduction to Turkey.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
For me it was a combination. A sea swim at the end of the walk on a divine beach. The kayaking, the discovery of Turkish food and wine (surprisingly good). The conversion from the standard turkish delight (pet hate) to the real thing. So many gorgeous flavours.
What did you think of your group leader?

Sweet.......... Young, bubbly, energetic and always smiling. However lacked any local knowledge of consequence. Lack of language meant frustrating gaps in questions unanswered. Overall she did her very best and always put in 110%.

Suggest that the break in walks should come on the 4th day. General consensus from our group.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Check the weather forecast for right clothing, tanning factor!

Hotel basic. Fab hosts but beds hard. Be prepared for 3 hr journey from the airport!

    Friday markets worth a visit.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Enjoy. And don't mistake the olives at breakfast for prunes/fruit. 2 of us had olives on yoghurt for breakfast!

The food apart from the standard breakfast was surprisingly good.

    And the hosts amazingly helpful.

Stress-free holiday with a good group of people and a reliable guide, but with a few disappointments.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The visit to the ruins at Arycanda was fascinating. The location of the site is stunning and many of the structures are in a relatively good condition. I also loved seeing tortoises in their natural habitat on a different walk.

What did you think of your group leader?

Our leader was excellent: very amenable, good humoured and as with all the Exodus guides I have encountered, available and willing to help with anything. I had complete trust in him. I would have liked to have had the benefit of an additional expert, to help explain about the botany and wildlife of the area during some of the walks.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Early September probably isn’t a good time to go as there is very little to see if terms of natural life (or perhaps it just wanted pointed out to us). Apparently the spring flowers are stunning and I may go back at that time of year. This is the third Exodus walking holiday I’ve been on, and the most disappointing in terms of walks: they were often quite short, or broken up in illogical ways, and we had very similar views (of miles of polytunnels) on at least two days.

The hotel is basic but completely adequate and it’s useful to be within walking distance of the town. Ka? is friendly and lively, without being over run with holidaymakers; it seems to have a healthy mixture of Turkish people and tourists, with a huge choice of cafes and restaurants. The Friday market is worth a visit, but don’t leave it too late as most stalls pack up around 7pm.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

The Turkish bath at the Hera hotel is great fun! The basic cost was 70 lira, but we negotiated 60 lira for a group. Add-ons were 10 lira each and we were there for about three hours. Ladies - take a bikini if you have one, rather than a swimsuit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Kas. The group we walked with was a great bunch, and our leader was friendly and knowledgable

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Difficult to pin down one moment. We really enjoyed the walking, but the kayaking was great too. One highlight would be having a delicious lunch with a local family in a small village. Another would be filling our water bottles from a waterfall in the hills. We did an extrra trip and went out for dinner on a boat which was fab. The staff at the Oreo were great, always available and friendly. I went to Hamman in Kas at Hera hotel and have to say was great fun and very relaxing, was a good thing to do after all the walking. Esma, the manager was delightful and excellent masseur.
What did you think of your group leader?
Maho was a good leader, he was good fun, patient and competent. This was particularly the case when we were kayaking, we had minor problem with kayak and he was able to fix it whilst on the water. He seemed to know all the people of Kas and was able to advise on the best places to go!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Limanazi beach which is accessed by water taxi is a great way to spend free day. If you are booking land only consider booking your own transfers, much cheaper than UK quotes. We stayed on for extra few days at hotel which was great and it only cost is 60 TL for the two of us to get mini bus back to Dalaman booked at Bourganville Travel in the town of Kas and taxi quote was only 150 TL. Ask for sea view room.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would happily recommend this trip to others. The amount of walking was about right during the very hot weather. However if you are looking for luxury rooms this is not trip for you, although the staff at hotel more than made up for basic rooms. The pool, bar and breakfast area was very good.
