This is an excellent trip for those wanting an overview of the country. There was an awful lot of driving though and I felt that the walk in Monteverde was disappointing as it took ages to get there and then we had a 2 hour walk in the cloud forest the following day, and then free time and a very long trip out. This is the second time I have done this particular trip, and I feel that the origional itinery where we visited the Jaco area was better.

A great trip that all came together well, problems over the flights (poor Exodus organisation a t UK end) being the only criticism. Great country, good people, loads to see and very relaxing.

The more you have an interest in wildlife the more you will love this trip. We saw an amazing variety of wildlife though of course you have to be lucky and be in the right place at the right time.

The trip gave us a comprehensive insight into the wonderful variety of exciting wildlife, trees and plants in Costa Rica. It was made all the more enjoyable by the group of people we travelled with, led by our excellent Costa Rican tour leader.

I enjoyed every rain-sodden minute. Our guide, Antonio was exceptional, our driver, Luis was delightful and I learned so much from them. The wildlife, countryside, rainforest, mountains, people and food were great!

While not being in the event my first choice, this was an enjoyable trip with a good crowd. weather varied from very hot , very wet , quite cold in places. A LOT of driving though.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country with a huge diversity of scenery and experiences. We had a fantastic local guide and driver who enhanced the trip hugely. Personally I enjoy a bit more hiking than was on offer on this trip but it did not take away from the enjoyment of the holiday.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
A treasure trove of nature: giants turtles laying eggs on the beach at night, the wheezing and rumblings of an active volcano, the life cycle of tree frogs and more exotic birds than most people see in a lifetime.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The most inspirational part of the trip was the first glimpse we got of the wildlife - whether it was toucans in the treetops, the capuccino-faced monkeys on the beach in Manuel Antonio, or the cayman swimming by the side of the boat! And the way our guide talked about the wildlife - his knowledge of it was fantastic. And of course, then there's the "bananas crossing the road" - honest! You just have to see it to believe it!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The part of the holiday that I enjoyed the most was the visit to the Esquinas Rainforest Lodge in the South of Cost Rica. This is a beautiful place run on strict eco friendly lines and is very comfortable and with excellent food. It has beautifully laid out gardens complete with a natural swimming pool and is surrounded by virgin rain forest. The day after we arrived at the lodge we visited a school at a village nearby and took them 2 boxes of school uniforms which had been paid for from part of the cost of our triip. I thought that this was a great idea and shows the locals they can benefit from tourism. We were given a tour around the school and some of the girls did a little dance for us.I also enjoyed a walk that we did on the last day when we walked to a village where we were given lunch by a woman who had a smallholding with a couple of pigs, cows and chickens. She also had a small cheesemaking plant which she showed us. I think it is nice to do something out of the ordinary on these trips and to interact with th locals.
