HUMPBACKS OF THE CARIBBEAN

Finding and photographing the most entertaining of the whales in their breeding grounds off the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has some of the Caribbean's best beaches, most verdant forests and picturesque mountains and is large enough to offer idyllic retreats away from the package holiday hordes. Every year the cyclical migration of the Atlantic Humpback heads to the relatively sheltered waters of Samana Bay in the north of the island. At least 1500 whales come to breed here from mid January to the beginning of March and we make the most of this spectacle by heading out on a private boat with Exodus' own award winning photographer, Paul Goldstein. We can further explore the island from our base at two small, intimate hotels in the sleepy village of Las Galleras, just metres from a spectacular beach.
We are now planning to run this trip in 2010. Please register your interest by emailing groups@exodus.co.uk
