The rugged Vesteralen Islands are sometimes considered Norway in miniature. Towering mountains plunge into icy seas and tiny fishing villages of red wooden houses hug the coast, while the mysterious Northern Lights dance in the sky. The islands are famous for wildlife; seals, sea otters, whales and moose, as well as an abundance of birdlife including sea eagles, Eider and Merganser ducks.
Five days exploring the Vesteralen Islands of Norway. Accommodation in award winning log cabins at the Andoy Friluftssenter, with all meals included.
4 nights at Andoy Friluftssenter
4 breakfast, 4 lunches and 4 dinners.
This trip is predominantly wildlife focused, with several excursions both by boat, snowshoe and on foot. None will be particularly challenging if you are of a reasonable fitness. Northern Lights hunts are taken each evening from the hotel, its isolated position next the fjord is perfect location to witness this natural phenomena. Please note that these are done on foot from the hotel only. Although the Vesteralen Islands have a relatively mild climate for their latitude, both days and nights can be very cold with strong winds making it feel colder still. Clients must come prepared for all weathers. The period of 24hr darkness will be over by the time these tours operate, but days are still quite short compared to the UK. The tour is based on full board; however alcohol with dinner is not included. Client should expect to pay approximately GBP6 for a beer, while wine and spirits are slightly more.
Normal group size and age

The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together. All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please see our Solo Departures page.
Leisurely grade trips are designed for people who are in good health and enjoy the outdoors.
Exodus is always looking to improve our current itineraries and to offer something different. With many new trips this year, there is something unique and different to try every year.
Wildlife: Trips may be wholly wildlife focused, or contain an element of wildlife viewing within a less specific itinerary.
Wilderness: Visit the deserts, jungles, plateaux, tundra and mountains of all seven continents, including Antarctica.
