SPITZBERGEN EXPLORER

Adult Group Holidays Leisurely Wilderness Wildlife Special Interest Polar Expedition

11 days from GBP3,590 to GBP3,860 land only
Tripcode: PNS

Map

Countries Visited: Norway

Explore the Svalbard Archipelago, a paradise of ice and tundra, inhabited by polar bears, walrus and seabirds.

Arctic fox

Sail to 80 degrees north, well beyond the Arctic Circle, around the island of Spitzbergen, where snow-draped mountains rise high above the pack ice. Seen from the ship or on land, it is the wildlife that makes this adventurous expedition so intoxicating: huge 200,000-strong colonies of little auk thronging the cliffs and shores, kittiwakes next to the Monaco Glacier, walrus wallowing in the shallows, arctic foxes, whales and, of course, one of the ultimate wildlife sightings, the mighty polar bear, frequently seen hunting in its frosty backyard on ice floes. With 24 hour daylight, the time is maximised amid this breathtaking glacial scenery, whether by the state-of-the-art Russian ship, Zodiacs or on foot.

RT TripWhat makes this trip responsible?

Responsible Travel

We take extremely seriously our responsibility to minimise our impact on these pristine areas. Exodus is a Full Member of the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) and has agreed to abide by one of the tourism world's most conscientious codes of conduct. Quark Expeditions, our ship operator, is also a member of the Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO), which covers operations in Spitzbergen.

However, perhaps the single most important thing any polar travel company can do, is educate their clients to travel sensitively and compassionately. Our expedition team on each ship takes this part of their role very seriously, and looks forward to explaining how everyone can play their part.
