Immense sand dunes, stunning coastline, palm-fringed wadis and rugged mountains are a few of the reasons why Oman is widely considered to be the most beautiful of the Gulf States. As well as scenic beauty, this country offers extraordinary hospitality and fascinating culture. After exploring the delights of Muscat, including the Grand Mosque, we head by jeep for Wadi Bin Khaled where we'll spend a night camping in the astonishingly beautiful Wahiba Sand and exploring 60metre high sand dunes. We also explore the ancient fort at Nizwa and visit Jebel Shams. The trip ends with some free time in Muscat to explore the souks and sights.

A WEEK IN OMAN
Day 1
Fly to Muscat; transfer to hotel.
Day 2
To Ras Al Jinz, the Green Turtle conservation beach via Wadi Shab.
Day 3
To Wahiba Sands via Sur for overnight desert camp; jeep safari on sand dunes.
Day 4
Morning short desert walk with camels (optional); to historic town of Nizwa; sightseeing includes Nizwa Fort.
Day 5
To Jebel Shams to walk the Grand Canyon 'balcony walk'; continue to carpet weaving village of Nakhr.
Day 6
Explore Nizwa souk; to Nakhl Fort and old Rustaq; to Muscat for overnight hotel.
Day 7
Visit Grand Mosque, palace and forts; afternoon board traditional wooden dhow for afternoon on the ocean; evening free or visit souk.
Day 8
Free day to explore or relax at the beach. Depart late evening.
Day 9
Arrive London.
