Immense sand dunes, stunning coastline, palm-fringed wadis and rugged mountains are a few of the reasons why Oman is widely considered to be the most beautiful of the Gulf States.

As well as scenic beauty, this country offers extraordinary hospitality and fascinating culture. We explore the delights of Muscat, including the Grand Mosque, and head by jeep to Wadi Bin Khaled where we'll spend a night camping in the astonishingly beautiful Wahiba Sands and explore 60metre high sand dunes.

The variety continues as we take in the ancient fort at Nizwa and follow the 'balcony walk' where spectaular views of Oman's 'Grand Canyon' are guaranteed.

Itinerary

Day 1

Fly to Muscat; transfer to hotel.

Day 2

To Ras Al Hadd, the Green Turtle conservation beach, via Wadi Shab and the ancient port of Sur.

Day 3

To oasis of Wadi Bani Khaled and then on to Wahiba Sands for overnight desert camp; jeep safari on sand dunes.

Day 4

Morning short desert walk with camels (optional); to historic town of Nizwa.

Day 5

To Jebel Shams to walk the Grand Canyon 'balcony walk'; afternoon in Nizwa.

Day 6

Explore Nizwa Fort; afternoon walk in a farming village; to Nakhl Fort; transfer to Muscat for overnight hotel.

Day 7

Free morning; afternoon board traditional wooden dhow for cruise on the ocean; evening free or visit souk.

Day 8

Visit Grand Mosque, palace and forts; depart late evening.

Day 9

Arrive London.
